JOHN 5:16 So on this account the Jews went persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things during Sabbath. 17 But he answered them: “My Father has kept working until now, and I keep working.” 18 On this account, indeed, the Jews began seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God.

Well, Xtians do kind of make things up as they go along.

Observing the Sabbath (keeping it holy) IS in the 10 Commandments, so I don't know WHERE that person got that from. JC sinned BY breaking the Sabbath. How can you say "he never sinned but broke the Sabbath" because it is contradictory?

Observing the Sabbath is hard to fathom for non Jews because they don't understand it. It wasn't the rabbis interpretation of the laws that made the Shabbat laws but G-d's own laws the Xtians choose to ignore. Shabbat is a day of rest and luxury: you eat the best foods, wear your best clothes, etc.

Any real Jew (unlike the Messianics) will know that the Torah's definition of "work" is not what your daily job is. It is what was done to build the Holy of Holies and includes 39 melachot (categories of work). Buying things is strictly prohibited, it doesn't matter how much you like it. That is prohibited by the laws G-d set down for us.

And yes, JC did break the Sabbath by healing the man because it was not a medical emergency and his life was not in danger. The sabbath is so holy that only life takes precedence over it in some cases: since the man's life was not in danger, he could have waited until sunset to heal the man.

Your question is contradictory. Since Jesus was a Jew born under the Law of Moses, then he would have sinned if he indeed broke the Sabbath. But did he?

No. By his sinless life, Jesus was the ONLY human to perfectly keep the Sabbath. So the accusation against Jesus of being in violation of the Sabbath was baseless. John 5:18

What about the second charge against Jesus of making himself equal to God? Was that true? No. At John 5:19, Jesus defended his submission to God by saying that he could do nothing of his own initiative. He also said: "For whatever things [the Father] does, these things the Son also does in like manner." Does that sound like the Son was making himself equal to God? Of course not!

So, Jesus did not break the Sabbath or make himself equal to God. Those were false accusations levied against Jesus by his enemies.

by using their estimate He exchange right into a Sabbath breaker for healing a guy on the Sabbath. Their estimate exchange into incorrect. This exchange right into a persevering with element of opposition between the Pharisees and Jesus, because of the fact theirs exchange right into a superficial and ritualistic observance of regulation, mutually as Jesus, the be conscious made flesh, fulfilled the regulation completely not purely in outward observance yet in Spirit and in certainty. someplace else Jesus stated it appears that evidently that it is lawful to do solid on the Sabbath. it fairly is likewise consistent with the coaching of the previous testomony prophets, maximum surprisingly Isaiah in financial ruin fifty 8

A life and death emergency provides sufficient excuse to break the sabbath without sin.

Jesus came so we could have life, and have it more abundantly.

Jesus was also on a very tight and precise 33 plus-year schedule, which led directly to his death on the cross at the conclusion of the preparation day of the Passover.

God is not bound by his own laws, and since Jesus is God, sin is one thing that is impossible for him.

If that was not the case, than his great work of redemption would have ended in failure, and his death would have been in vain.

Jesus was God who put in the Sabbath. He wasn't breaking the Sabbath, but the Jewish leaders felt he was because of their own improper interpretation of what the Sabbath was. I really doubt God would strike someone down for eating on the Sabbath or helping someone who was down on their luck or anything like that. The one I always did wonder about though was when Jesus didn't stay with his family and went to the temple when he was a young kid, and they thought he was lost. Was he disobeying them or dishonoring them? Lol, I guess I should put that in the Ask section not the Answer one eh?

G-d made the Sabbath for man, not man for the Sabbath.
Jesus never broke it, as it was actually a medical emergency to heal sick or blind people. This is not only allowed, but mandatory if on the Sabbath you can bless someone or save them from physical harm, you must do so. Different than working at 7-11.

Once a lady in the Synagogue yelled at me for buying candles on the Sabbath...but hey, I'm enjoying it! I love shopping! I am not a professional shopper for a living! We can do anything but work, I think, it is meant to be enjoyed!

It was in the opinion of the scribes and Pharisees that he had broken the Sabbath. He had not broken the Sabbath of God, but their understanding of it. They didn't know what the Sabbath was, what it stood for. To them it meant to demand that the people obey the law down to the nth degree, while not being able to do the same themselves. They didn't recognize that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. And they didn't recognize the Lord of the Sabbath when he stood among them.

No Jesus did not break the Sabbath. The Religious leaders who killed Jesus said he broke the Sabbath but Jesus said the opposite, Jesus said "I have kept my Father's commandments." The Bible says "Let God be true, but every man a liar" Romans 3:4.

When you say "Jesus broke the Sabbath" you are siding with the Pharisees

Lets look at the verse again
John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

Let's say this verse says Jesus broke the Sabbath If that is true, the scripture here also says that Jesus claimed to be equal with God while only being a mere man. Then that means Jesus broke the 1st, 3rd and 9th commandments. That means that we don't have to worry about the 1st, 3rd or the 9th commandments either.

Stop twisting the sciptures to support false teachings.

Remember to the Sabbath to keep it Holy Exodus 20:8-11
Sin is the transgression of the law. Romans 6:23
"I have kept my fathers commandments" John 15:10

How could Jesus have broken the law and still be sinless. Either Jesus is lying or He kept the Sabbath. I believe Jesus.

What did Jesus do in John 5?
He healed a man. Because he helped someone the religious leaders said He broke the Sabbath but where in the Sabbath command does it say "Do not help someone."

That was added by the religious leaders NOT GOD. It was tradition NOT the word of GOD.

What should Jesus have done? let the man continue to suffer in pain because it was Sabbath? No Jesus blessed people on the Sabbath Day

And He said to them, "Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?" But they kept silent. Mark 3:4

Every example people use for Jesus supposedly "breaking" the Sabbath we find Jesus either in Church or on His way to church. Yet we never see Jesus in His carpenter's shop. We never see Jesus helping the disciples fish. He is always going to church and when He sees people in need He helps them.

Jesus was a carpenter and yet we never see Him making chairs and selling them on the Sabbath. He is always in church, going to church or coming out of church. He kept the Sabbath as a holy day of convocation Lev 23.

We NEVER hear Jesus tell His followers "Forget about the Sabbath." Instead Jesus expected His followers to be keeping the Sabbath 40 yrs after He went to Heaven
Jesus speaking of the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 A.D.

Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. Matthew 24:20

If this is what Jesus taught the Apostles didn't think so because even after Jesus left the STILL kep the Sabbath
Did the apostles keep the Sabbath?
Acts 13:14
Acts 13:42
Acts 13:44
Acts 16:13
Acts 17:2
Acts 18:4

Jesus kept the Sabbath even in his death. He finished saving us on Friday. HE RESTED in the tomb on Sabbath and rose on Sunday to start working again interceding for us with God.

The Bible shows that Jesus kept the sabbath
Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" Matthew 12:9,10

They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. Mark 1:21

When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. Mark 6:2

He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. Luke 4:16

Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath began to teach the people. Luke 4:31

On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues Luke 13:10

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple John 5:14

Revelation 14 says that 3 messages go out to the world right before the end comes. The first message says worship the creator and then it quotes the 4th commandment.

God is calling his people to return to the commandments and worship Him as He has described. He wants His people to leave man made traditions and come back to His word.

"And the times of this ignorance God winked at, but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent." --Acts 17:30
