their medical problem goes away, do you give the credit to the doctor and the SCIENCE that he used to cure the patient, or do you claim it was an answered prayer from God and it was just coincidence that God answered the patient's prayer at the same time as they received surgery?

Fruitcake, your name gives you justice. The insanity of religion never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for making me laugh.

If by saying that it "goes away," you mean that whatever caused the problem is physically removed or repaired by a physician then you have to say that the doctor used his knowledge and technology to cure the person. If you mean that it "goes away" as in cancer suddenly vanishing from a body then that would have to be considered a miracle through the power of God.

In either case, God has a hand in the work. First of all, He created the doctor who performed the operation and everyone else in the operationg room, provided that doctor and any others involved (including those who built certain monitors or devices used in the operation) with the wisdom to carry out their specific jobs for the operation to be a success and obviously needs the patient to hang around a bit longer for whatever reason He has for them. In the second instance, God simply answers the prayers of the faithful patient. No doctor needed.

God works most of the time through other people. One would pray that God would guild the hands of the doctor to help the patient have a positive outcome. I know that you don't believe, and that is OK. As a therapist I know that there were times when I was not able to help someone and I prayed for God to work through me and the strangest thing happened. I would speak to my client with an eloquent that I do not have and the things I said were exactly what they needed at that time. It only happened a few times. It was as if I were standing outside of myself listening to my own words. You could say that it was just a deeper part of me, or you could say that is was God working through me. I know it was out of my own limitations and only God could have done it.

Of course we credit the doctor and science for the operation. We also thank God for the grace of living another day, and of the success of the operation. How many people have the same operation and don't pull through?

Both... God gave us all brains so the credit goes to him for giving us intelligence, and it was the Doctors who actually used their brains to save the person. I mean God gave people their gifts so He deserves the ultimate credit, but I mean does that mean the Doctor and science had nothing to do with it? Of course not! They obviously deserve tons of credit.

Wasn't it God that gave the doctor wisdom??? And God that directed the doctor in the operation??? And God that healed the wound afterwards???? God has a lot more to do with this whole process than many give him credit for.
