It's OK for anyone to go anywhere barefoot if they wish - you may be surprised to learn that there are no laws, health regulations, danger or signs of poverty attached to not wearing shoes. I love going barefoot, it's comfortable, natural and relaxing and I just wish a few more people would give it a try instead of applying the kind of un-necessary and un-justified prejudice that you see in some of the answers above.

I don't think that it is a good idea for anyone to walk around public in bare feet just because of the health risk associated with that and the fact that you can end up with a piece of glass if you are not careful and with that a bad infection. On the beach is another story and I don't think it matters gender wise one bit. I don't think you are allowed in stores without footwear.

Well most public places do not allow people to come in barefoot. This is very dangerous to go in public barefoot. I know that some hate to wear shoes but if you hate shoes just wear like flip-flops or something like that.

Neither. If there is food served in a place, no matter where it is....the health department rules are No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service. That is a health and sanitary issue. If it is just running around outside, either would be acceptable in my opinion. Just remember to carry shoes with you in case you need to go in a public place.

It is more acceptable for males to do that. Women are considered to be trashy when they do that. Case and point, Britteny spears caught hell for not wearing shoes while out in public, but the many male stars that do never face any public out cry.

It's not acceptable period. I wouldn't want to smell foot odor at the grocery store along with the other smells

I don't think you're allowed to go into places like that without shoes on. At least wear flip flops.
As for who's feet look best, women usually win that contest.

Well you can't go in any stores bare foot but I don't see a problem with it either way .Guy or Gal .

i would if i could, but the thought of nasty ppl spitting and among other things on the ground where my feet will walk upon is just yuck yuck!
