My hair is severly damamged due to perms, and coloring. It's dry and feels like an SOS pad sometimes. I have asked the beauticians at different hair salons and they tell me to use their hair products that they have to push. I want to know what I can use to make it soft and managable for more than a day. I have washed and put conditioner in and left it in all night and it was soft for that day. I'm looking for more of a long term results. I'm not asking for an ignorant comment or a dumb answer so you can get points. I'm looking for some good, serious, honest answers. Thanks a head of time

go and get some joico k-pak. it is amazing. i worked in a paul mitchell store that sold the line and it works wonders! it is like $15 a bottle, but so worth it! i would get the shampoo and daily conditioner and then get the deep penetrating reconstructor and use that 3-4 times a week. i am not saying it is going to magically make your hair better after one use, but you will notice a difference after your first shampoo.

here is a link to their page...

it really is great, great hair care! they sell it at the salon inside walmart! good luck!

also, no more leaving conditioner on all night unless it is a leave in conditionter. that will do more damage in the long run. also no "off the shelf" products are going to work. unfortunately it is time to buy the good stuff. i am sorry if this is not what you want to hear, but it will be worth it in the end.

I have 3 suggestions, depending on your budget.....

I would try Pantene's shampoo/condition for dry/damaged hair. They have a new line out, this is not the one I'm referring to. Stay with the original line of Pantene.

Ojon has a variety of shampoo/conditioners & leave in pastey type products you can try as well. If you live near a Sephora, go there and ask for SAMPLES as the product can be pricey. If not, shop online at sephora.com or QVC.com where the product is sold. This one though you've got to experiment with the amount of product you use....it's easy to use way too much but it's not necessary...it's highly concentrated.

Aveda has SAP MOSS conditioner....smells nice, works well.

Philosophy just came out with a dry hair shampoo/conditioner/leave in oil treatment. I haven't used this yet, but I hear it's AMAZING!!!!

Mayonaise works, or olive oil. Tea Tree oil depending on how damaged your hair is.

I've heard honey can help, or egg whites.

Here's another option: Aussie 5 minute repair, saturate hair, put a shower cap on, or wrap in saran wrap, set hair dryer on low, and heat head for 10-15 minutes. Wrap a towel around head, (still covered in shower cap/saran wrap). Wait 30 minutes, rinse hair, and towel dry.

Do this before bed, and make sure to use a baby shampoo from now on as they are the gentlest shampoos you can buy.

Try not to use your hair dryer unless you abosolutely have to as that will only make your hair worse.

The other option, seriously, is the pricey stuff from the salons, but go buy it at a beauty supply store, probably cheaper that way.

You might want to contact Wella, or one of the other manufacturers and ask for samples of their products, some of them will send you an actual bottle to try.

first of all, do NOT leave conditioner on over-night. when left for too long, it dries out your hair instead of making them soft. also, use treatment conditioner instead of just normal conditioner, its slightly more expensive but u use less and it works better. bonacure has this product called "moisture", its a spray-on and u use it after wash and leave it in. its great for damaged hair, im on my 5th bottle now.

For long time results, you are going to have leave chemicals off your hair and wait for it to grow. You'll have to stick with the overnight conditioning until then. I know this isn't what you want to hear but I'm afraid it is best solution.
