I am applying to a wine company in CA as a wine label designer and want to pick out a decent meritage to mock up a label on to submit as my application. I want something nice, but not too expensive. Any suggestions. Preferably one with an easy label to swap off.

I am going to remove the label and replace it with my own.

I am not designing a new label for that specific wine, I am going to submit the wine along with my resume.

i am not sure I understand what you are asking for...Are you try to present a design change to a current wine label? Meritage refers to a blend of wines. You are going to be hard pressed to find any meritage wines under $20 - $30. That said some of the ones i like are the following:

Geyser Peak Alexandre
Estancia
Stonestreet legacy
Clos Du Bois Marlstone
Sterling Reserve SVR
Viader

What do you mean by easily swap off? Do you mean get the label off? Usually the best way to get any label off the bottle is to let a bottle soak in water for about an hour or so and then use a nylon scrubby thing to get the label off. That's what the wineries tell me.

Why would it matter what's in the bottle if it's just a mock-up? Go out and find the bottle shape that you want, take off the labels, and add your own. Or, go to a brewing supply company or a restaurant and get an empty bottle to add your label to. Or, buy a bottle of *their* wine, leave their back label on, and put yours on the front.

And remember, it's against the law to send wine through the USPS - be sure to use UPS or FedEx instead.

Good luck to you and I hope they like what they see! : )

Make a label with a camel (2 humps) and call it camel grass juice. I bet it has a splendid bouquet!
