It means "My God has helped" . The name Lazar comes from the hebrew 'Eleazar'. In italian is Lazzaro (and not Lazarus as posted in the previous answer...) Lazarus is the Latin corresponding name.Usage as Lazar is limited to Russia, Serbia, Croatia and Bulgaria. The Hungarian 'Lazar' has 2 accents on the 2 A that I cannot type (I've not in my desktop).

I couldn't find Iazar, but I found Lazar. Is this what you were looking for? Lazar is a Hungarian surname that comes from the name Lazar, the Hungarian form for Lazarus. Lazarus is the Italian form of Eleazar (I know, it's kind of hard to follow...) And, as you may know, Lazarus was the man who was brought back to life by Jesus.
