I am 13 years old, and would like to lift some wights, though i can lift 120 lbs. with my legs, i only did this once as i know weight lifting can stunt growth. Is this caused by extreme weight lifting, weight lifting constantly over a period of time, or something else, and where is the balance inbetween growth stunt from weight lifting, and not at all.

instead of lifting free weights- lift your body weight. do lunges, squats, jumping lunges, pushups, chair dips, etc.
save the weights for when you are 16 or so. you will gain strength and endurance with the body weight routine

I think what stunts growth the most is lifting with your legs. Try to work on your upper body, or if you're working with legs try to do exersises that don't put pressure on your knees.

It won't stunt your growth, that's a myth.

You dont have to do extreme lifting anyway. Try this link, it's a good workout. It's "MAX OT," meaning Maximum Overload Training:

your too young man...just like some people said above, it would probably be smart to just do things with your own body such as pushups, situps, and running. you dont necessarily need weights to get ripped up or big. good luck

Because your skeleton is still developing you can easily damage it. Even one time can harm you. The more you do this activity, the more likely it is to hurt you. I dont think its worth the risk.
