I have red stools and the only things I ate today was, 1: Donut 2: Bowl of Chicken soup 3: 4 Peanut Butter Cookies and some Steak and Potatos for dinner. I was wondering if any these would cause Orange/Red stools. Thanks cause it's sorta scaring me since I have no pains or anything. So does anyone have any idea what it is?

Well, they're kinda jelled like and I dipped some TP in the water and it didn't turn red or anything so I don't know. I have real bad gas also. Haha.

Did you have carrots with your Steak and Potatoes?? Could be that...........

Otherwise just wait till tomorrow, see what color they are then. If they are still orange/red just go see your Doctor.

Cheers;

It isn't caused by what you ate today, unless you have diarrhea things don't pass through the system that quickly. More than likely it was something you ate within the last 3 days. It could have been beets or anything that was colored vividly with food coloring. If you ate annato, which is a spice found in Latin American or Caribbean foods, or tumeric found in Indian foods and some oriental/curry dishes, or something loaded with food coloring like the icing on a cake. Food coloring often goes through the system as is. Kool-aid can also do it, though that usually shows up in the urine first. Think back on what you've eaten in the past few days, and you will likely zero in on the culprit. As long as you begin to see the normal stools in the next day, you should be just fine. It's weird, but it happens. In the ER we used to see toddlers with purple and pink diapers from koolaid and juice on occasion, which scared the fire out of their parents. If it were blood you could recognize, you wouldn't be asking where it came from and you would have one sore tush. Blood going through the intestine is black, and the stools are tarry looking and can also have a smell. If it is actually red or orange, food color is the culprit. So you can relax, you aren't dying and there's no need to visit the doctor.

Hmmmm, you could have several serious issues going on. Those foods would not cause stools to look that way. It is likely that the red you see in your stools is blood. The blood could be there from any number of conditions such as an ulcer in your intestines or colon, or from hemeroids.

If it is blood then you need to make an appointment with your Dr. ASAP. It could be a very serious issue that needs to be addressed quickly.

Sorry to break the news to you, but good luck and I hope its nothing serios

Do you have children? My guess is no, or you didn't change diapers very often. The human body can take red kool aid and turn it into flourescent green stools. If you're thinking along the lines of blood in your stool, well fear not...blood in stool shows up black, not red or orange.

Try eating some more leafy green veggies...

Was the stool itself red? Did it look like possible blood? If it did then you should see a doctor. Otherwise it could be from something you ate yesterday.

Are you sure you didn't eat beets? That will surely result in red stools.

Well, if you didn't drink any red Kool-Aid, or eat a bunch of red licorice, you may have hemorroids.

maybe you need more fiber and water. If it continues for a couple more times, go to a doctor
