What I want to know is how can fundamentalist Christians be so certain that Jesus was the Messiah when he had all this competition?

You're exactly right. Most fundamental Christian biblical tales are merely re-tellings from the folklore and mythology of previous cultures. Also, almost every single culture has a flood story, and almost every single culture's savior was at one time tempted by their version of the Devil. The only reason Chrisitan myths have gained more worldwide recognition is because the Roman Emporer Constantine converted to Christianity in the 4th century and since Rome controlled most of the civilised world back then, it had the springboard to grow into the prominence it wrongfully enjoys today.

Jesus' Linage was of Abraham and none of the others were. GOD said that it wouyld be so, and it was. EVERY prediction of Christ in the OLd Testament was meet in HIM but NOT all were met in them. I hope that you are able to un derstand that there is only ONE SON of the LIVING GOD! Have a great evening.

Plagiarism isn't a sin according to their Bible. Which is very convenient, specially when it comes to the story of Mithras.
