Sometimes they are the complete opposite.

According to God, the homosexual will end up in hell. According to laws of my country, discrimination based on sexual preference is not allowed, and a guy like Fred Phelps with his 'God hates fags' sign will end up in jail.

And I can make a long list of other examples here. I don't feel like discussing this particular example, the example is to show the point and was the first thing that came to mind.

I was just wondering, and being genuinly interested here: As a Christian or Muslim, isn't it confusing to live in a world where a lot of laws simply contradict God's laws?

And as a non-Christian or non-Muslim, isn't it annoying to fully live according to the laws of your country, and still be pointed out as a sinner by somebody else's God?

This is a good question.

The Bible specifically says to obey that laws of your country unless they're in opposition to God's teachings. It's that simple.

Here's the deal. Everyone that is "saved", "born again," etc. is still a sinner, and still does things that would normally warrant God's justice. But the difference, is that now we've been forgiven.

Check this out: We STILL continue to sin, and God corrects us. Generally, He doesn't have us deal with all of our sins at once, but He slowly "transforms" us over time. Would you be surprised to learn that there are Christian homosexuals? Yep... a few in my church, and those I know I count as friends. They are loved by God, just as I am. I personally believe the Bible when it calls homosexuality a sin, but how can I possibly condemn someone for that when my life is so full of sin too? (and all Christians are sinners, believe me).

The point is, Christ transforms us, and all we have to do is allow it to happen. That's why as Christians, we're to love everyone, despite where they come from.

I mean, who can possibly be perfect?

To revise a stupid statement lately, let me say this: "God loves fags." God loves sinners. God even loves me for some reason.

Well, as for the religious part of it:
In the Bible, it talks about respecting the government you are under. I would say to follow God's laws (no brainer), but make sure that you are within the laws of the country as much as possible. I guess what the standard religious reply would be something to the effect of: do not let the laws of the earthly governments get in the way of doing God's work.

As far as the non-religious response:
I have gone back and forth between believing in religion and not. Even when I have been religious, I have always hated others pointing out the problems in my life; almost nothing makes me angrier quicker. I think that once religious people realise that they cannot shove thier religion down the throats of others, they will have a better response to their message.

According to God, homosexuality is not natural, and therefore not good in his eyes - It will make you ill; it will completely nullify the whole idea of the circle of life.

As far as law goes, there will be no controversy between a Christian following the laws of our City and also being in line with the teachings of Scriptures. If some guy is walking around with a sign that he obviously made to try to incite a riot, he should get picked up by the police.
I am Christian, and I also am a person who does not carry a sign around to piss people off. I have better things to do.
If a law is passed that will in anyway make it illegal for me to worship God, to pray, to raise my children with the knowledge and teachings of Christ, then there will be a very very big problem, and yep, I would not be able to concur.

There are many specific variations, so I want to be general. A godly country would want to elect godly leaders who follow the laws of God. So, that if you are following the laws of God, you end up following the laws of the country.
However, man is not naturally good, so we vary from God's ways. In a situation where God differs from country, the Bible has proven time against time that we should follow him and NOT the ungodly government.

Hey .;.. don't you know that only the people of China were created - all the rest of the world crawled out the sea and adapted ourselves ... come on bro - give a question that is worthy of an answer... Only one race - human race - we all got the same DNA ... Our obligation is to do what our creator - YAHWEH (YHWH) tells us to do - then he turned it all over to his Son Yahshua Messiah of Nazereth - to watch over us all ... problem is - are you one to be watched over by Yahshua ... or are you with the pagan god jesus ... you decide ... Yahshau WILL ... Your question is great though - and the answer is: Our Creator never changes - read the book of Job ... it will show where Job at one time had no mediator ... our mediator is now Yahshua Messiah ... and Yahshua now sits at His right hand and tells our problems to His Father Yahweh and we are answered ... Simple enough??? if not - give me a pm if allowed ... Does not the Messiah in Matthew 5:17-21 kind of say that if you teach against the truth that you will end up in Mat 5:17 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. \ Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. \ Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. And further - our Creator Yahweh said ... in the so called "Old Testament" ... which shows in the book of Peter that He inspired those that wrote to write what He said ... Mal 3:6 For I [am] Yahweh, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. And hey: "YY4Me" ... if you said what you said - you need not be a moderator over this part of the fourm ... yeah - you well below me on this thread - you are incorrect and know nothing spiritual ... you should keep your comments to yourself and not try to teach ... you will have the greater condemnations to yourself if you persist ...

"...and a guy like Fred Phelps with his 'God hates fags' sign...."

since when did God say people can go out and spread His message with harshness? Showing harshness and hostility won't make anyone want to listen.

just because you follow the laws of your land doesn't mean you HAVE to become best friends with anyone who is homosexual.

Yes, it is annoying. But my religion says that we are to follow the laws of the land we live in, as well. Then again, my religion also does not teach that people are going to burn in hell. Homosexuality isn't a sin. (sodomy is, but that's a different story) So I guess the laws of my religion don't really conflict with the laws of the land...unless it was commanded by the US that we all have to eat pork for breakfast and cheeseburgers for lunch and shrimp for dinner....

It is not necessesarily exclusive of each other.

I mean, you can believe in God, and still stay within the boundaries of law of a country.

If you believe God's law means that homosexuals have to go to hell (and I do NOT agree!) then, that is your belief. But, either way, you don't have to hate those people who hold other beliefs.

The neat thing is, you do not have to follow someone else's beliefs in order to be a good citizen of your country. But, neither do you have to go around making inflamatory statements.

The law of the country, except the denial of God.
Obedience to the law of the country maintains order, which is pleasing to God. But denial of God means the collapse of all things.

No it is not annoying.
Using your example;
If you can show me where the Bible says YOU should discriminate against sexual preferance then you have a contradiction.
Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

P.S. I am not a Christian, Muslam or homosexual
