I was just wondering, I know people get tattoos that mean something to them, or they get something just because they like it, but what is the point of tattooing your own name on your own skin?

because they are extremely un-artistic. so much so to the point that they can not even pick out a random piece of art off the wall for the fear that it will be ugly to most people, so they just get the one thing they think they could never regret because hopefully it will never change. unless of course you enter the witness relocation program.

My sister got her name just because its so unique and she's conceited but I was wondering the same thing. I got my son's name because I love his name and him and I'm going to get his face because I am his mother and this is my body. There's no point in tattoos or piercings but people get them anyways because they have that right!

So if they get drunk they can remember their name...NAH Some people get it so that others can tell their name I guess or becasue they want to. I dont think that there is a definate reason. Each person has their own reason.

pride. if your family name has strenght and honor behind it, then show it off. my family name - a very prestigious family, helped found a lot of eastern canada, even have a town in the united states named after it. large family tree, lot of respected people in it.

I don't know my 2 of my sis in laws have tats w/ a pair of cherries on their foot with their names under them.

Its usually represent a symbol of Love or passion towards that person. Husband & Wife tattoed their loving ones name on their body. There is no other significant reason other then what i mentioned.

The people that I know that had that done,said they were YOUNG and didn't know what else to put and I believe it (more than 1 person's answer)

some people want them because it makes them feel good and that they know who they are. they have it tattooed on them to remind them everyday
