did they give you a fine or a court date????

If you have a fine to mail in then just pay it and then find the nearest traffic class and pay the 25 dollars to go to a class...they will give you a reciept and you can take it to your insurance company and it will ower your insurance like 5 to 10 percent which is what the ticket would raise it so it will level out.

if they gave you a court date request traffic school...if its your first ticket then the judge will usually grant it which means the ticket is dropped apon completion of the 2 to 4 hour class and then you can still take the reciept and get a discount at the insurance company... so then you get cheaper insurance and no ticket on your record!

dont freak! it'll be ok! the class is usually 2 to 4 hours long and they lecture you about seatbelts and speeding and somtimes make you watch videos of car crashes.

Well you have a court date...you should not need a lawyer for traffic court...traffic court is much less formal and the judges can be a lot more forgiving...my recommendation is to show up to court on the date you were given and ask the judge for a reduced fee and traffic school...even the officer to you to do that when he gave you the ticket. Just politely explain to the judge your situation, and the fact that it was your first ticket, he should go easy on you. You should get something in the mail before hand that might let you select some of these options but i'm not sure what state you live in so i'm not sure how that will all work for you. The bonus of going to traffic court is the entertainment of morons trying to fight tickets with nonsense...highly comical...try not to get to freaked out about it all. The courts can reduce fees and work out payment plans for you, and going to traffic school generally allows you to erase one point every 18 months from your record so it wont get reported to your insurance company.

Unfortunately, there really isn't any way to counteract it. If you didn't think you were going that fast, you should have asked to see the radar gun fir yourself. I know, no one ever thinks of it, I didn't either when I got pulled over (supposedly my little four cylinder went 0-67 up a 72 degree incline in about eight seconds). I wish there was more I could tell you, but I really don't know. You can't fight it, because a judge just looks at anyone under thirty as a lying, partying druggie. I know,it's not right, I know, some don't. But over all, many do.

Make sure your insurance is NEVER late and don't switch companies until it's off your record. Don't get anymore tickets either. If you pay late or wanna switch companies, they are gonna run a check.

You can also be put on court supervision for so many months (6 I think) and it will not go against your record IF you don't get anymore tickets. This will cost you a little more also because you'll have to pay court costs.

Every state and community is different but in some areas if you pay the fine quickly and before the court date, the insurance companies do not find out about it. It's not foolproof, but it works sometimes. Sorry that I can't give you a better answer.

Some judges will dismiss a minor ticket if you take a defensive driving course in which case it won't show up on your record. Some insurance companies will not penalize you if you take a defensive driving course after getting a ticket, if you haven't had any other tickets.

Go to court and contest it. That's your only shot. Sounds to me like the cop was being generous. You could have been nabbed for inattentive driving. Your parents will be thrilled with the increase in their insurance rates. Guess you're walking or taking the bus for a while.

If you can, try to go to traffic school (check with the court to see if you’re eligible, and witch one to attend). If it’s your 1st offense that's eligible in 3 years, you can go, and the ticket disappears from the system, and insurance does not find out. (Unless an accident happened related to the ticket) you can also go to court. Pray the cop does not show, and it will be dismissed

go to the appointed court date and tell the judge the situation (ei. fight it) or over pay the fine by $5 for some reason the computer system can't handle over payments and kicks you r record out of the database, this was true a few years back, not sure if it's valid today
