1. Shock (they picked mine? why?)
2. Happy (yeah! they picked mine.)
3. Sad (they only picked mine so they could get extra pts.)
4. Back to Happy (I just got 10 pts)
5. Energized (gotta answer more questions now just in case)

First, Naches, then the kvelling period begins. After this ends, the mishigas of answering more questions begins so the process can repeat itself.
Seriously though, I wonder which question it was. I then hit the link. If it was one I gave good thought to and took care when answering, then I gain a bit of satisfaction. Especially when the asker selects it rather than voters. That means your advice or answer has a higher probability of being useful in a practical sense.
If it's for something I wrote seat of my pants and didn't think was that good, I lament about the human condition and feel sad for mankind that my half-baked answer was the best anyone had to offer this person seeking knowledge.
In conclusion, a spectrum of emotions depending upon the circumstance. Interesting though, I have never analyzed it until you asked.

I get a little giddy when I see "yahoo answers" in the subject line.
then I wait for it to load...and when I see "your answer has been chosen" I giggle for a second. I would love to high-five someone but my husband thinks this is a silly waste of time...so no one is available to high-five.
Then I load the question to find out which one. I agree that anticipation is the feeling with that.
I like it when the asker leaves a nice message about why they chose the answer. That makes me smile and usually I talk out loud to the asker as though they can hear..."I am glad you liked it"
Finally, I am hesitant to answer any more questions for a little while because I don't think I can top that answer.
God Bless

It depends on my mood. Sometimes my initial response is, "Yeah, yeah, another "best answer" - whatever." That's when I'm busy and trying to find real email amidst all the stuff from Yahoo Answers!
At other times, it's like this:
1. Excitement
2. Anticipation
3. Surprise (that I got best answer for THAT!)
4. Gratitude (to the person for giving me a best answer)
5. Motivation (to go answer more questions as well as I can!)

Ya, that is about right. Then I go to check my % to see if it is getting any higher. Then I think that I have got to stop answering questions like this and only answer questions that I can get best answer for. I want a really, really high % of best answers. How do some of these folks get such high ones?

David; You have a very special gift for a man. You are in touch with your emotions. Most men are not. Or they refuse to think about them.
I would say that mine follow the same pattern as yours.
Blessings
