Humans are not "related to" apes. Humans ARE apes. Humans are one of seven species of Great Apes (hominids), the others being two species each of chimpanzees, gorillas and orang utangs.

If you take the common chimpanzee as the "typical" ape, its closest relative is the bonobo, its next closest is the human, the third and fourth closest are the two gorilla species and the fifth and six the orang utangs.
Humans are bang in the middle of the Ape family tree, as is demonstrated by genetic studies, evolutionary theory, anatomy and the fossil record.
Humans are "related to" apes in the same way parrots are "related to" birds.

I find it heavily ironic that people think evolution is "just a theory", but then go on to assert that poking a hole in it invalidates the entire thing.
Scientific theory doesn't work like religious dogma. The beauty of scientific theory is that it IS falsifiable. Religious dogma isn't... if you poke a hole in it, you have to throw the whole thing out or reinterpret it to fit a particular agenda. As far as I know, that's called 'blasphemy'.

If you want to believe in evolution, go ahead. It's absolute hogwash though.
I'd rather believe that God created Adam and Eve and that everyone else in the world was created by Adam and Eve's kids all having incestuous sex orgies with each other. I know it doesn't make any sense at all, but the bible says it, so it must be true.

and
"I'm not intelligent enough to understand it".

Well.. at least there's some explanation now for the behavior of those of the likes of Saddam Hussein and Adolf Hitler... they hadn't evolved quite as much from the 'ape' state as the rest of us have!!
