I am a shy guy. I hav gone out of my way to meet a girl i really liked. However, I always wait for some sort of himt they may like me. I am very cautious. Some times guys act like they do not like a girl becaue they are fearful of regection. Its a dfense thing.

Firstly, yes, I'll tell her. Otherwise your heart will break if she's with someone else. Just be confident and look her in the eye. If you can't just look at the bridge of her nose. It works. =)
Secondly, it's a 'defense mechanism' for some guys to behave that way cause they may either be sensitive or they are just afraid of getting hurt/embarrassed. Let's say you like this girl but you don't want anyone else to know cause you're scared that you may be the centre of jokes. So you develop this 'defense mechanism' where you actually treat the girl badly or something.
It could apply too for a girl.

It all depends on what the situation is. I'll approach a girl in a club or a bar (not cuz of dutch courage) but wouldn't walk up to a girl in Tesco while doing my shopping.....Thats cuz I'm just outa bed and still have sleep marks on my face!

NO I wouldn't because I get rejected so much, its like, why bother. I would secretly be in lust with her. I never have gone out of my way to act like I don't like some one.

personally, i always tried to approach, usually after some time of liking and not telling. sometimes it got to the approach and then a rapid retreat back to liking not telling. this may be a common thing.

I dont see the difference between an "attractive" girl and a normal girl - they should both be the same to approach, they're both people!

personally i wouldnt tell...im just way too scared of what happens after you get rejected..like itll be awkward
but thats just me
basically ive tried asking before, and ive been rejected..
so i figure im not doin it again..technically if u dont ask you cant get rejected right?
