(I know this isn't the right section to post this question, but I did anyways because there seems to be more poeple on here than anywhere else. Plus, the replies are interesting.)

I think its absolutely disgusting that he gets this much money every seven days. (I don't think he's worth that much money! not even two cents!) He's soccar skills aren't great at all (I've seen soccar geniouses in FIFA and he's N O T H I N G compared to them!) It's ridiculous that one individual out of 3 bellion people in the world is making this much money, whereas childern upon childern are plauged with harrowing proverty and diseases, who are dieing each second around the world because they're deprived from a paper substance called money. Is this justice? Does it sicken you to know that you are capable of saving millions of childerns around the world with that amount of money but only ONE person is entitled to it, whereas that individual doesn't need one sherd of it? This sickens me to the stomach.

Firstly, everyone lay off about his abilities. I mean it's so fashionable to insult David Beckham, but the guy once scored a goal from his own half, enough said.
And he's not being paid for his football skills anyway. He's being paid for his fame, and while there are better players than Beckham, there are very few more famous.
And what are you saying about justice? When did it become a football team's responsibility to ensure an end to third world hunger before paying their players? Your government wastes a lot more than a million dollars a week, why don't you have a go at them and leave David alone.

Well, David Beckham is realyl getting that money because of IMAGE. He is an icon for Soccer (or Football for the rest of the world outside North America). America wants to pay him that much because if America can be hooked on Soccer too then it would be an insanely lucrative business for the owners. I personally think it is wishful thinking because Americans (and Canadians -- where i live) find Soccer very boring so i personally think its a waste of money getting him.

I am a totally straight guy but i have to admit, David Bechkam is a pretty damn good looking guy and so his image is what they can sell and because of that i personally think he should get what he can get since other companies around him will be milking his image to the "T"...I know nothing about this guy except that he does Victoria "Posh Spice"...and when i think about them having kids i think to myself i will go BLIND because of how beautiful that baby will be...They are a pretty damn good looking couple.

His salary is about on par with (if not less than) actors getting paid $20 million for 2 months work - thats just over $2 million per week.

What I do think was unjust was how his wife (posh spice) pushed him into it just so she could "be seen" in Hollywood. Apparently David has said he would have preferred to return to England. Victoria is said to have promised to try for a fourth child - hoping to have a daughter - if he would agree to move to Los Angeles.

Hey Chill!. You are not paying him. Ask the people who think he is worth that kind of money. Why is Howard Stern worth $500 mil? The people that pay them think they can make more money than they pay out. Ask the owners and corporations why? Their answer will be to pay back the investors and stockholders who put up the money. It does seem crazy but most capitalists know the value of paying back. Bill and Melinda Gates are devoting their time to giving $50 billion (that is billion with a "B") to the causes you mentioned. Warren Buffet, who is the second wealthiest person, decided not to bequeath his wealth to his children. He is joining the Gate's with his philanthropic endeavor. They will not shower money indiscriminately. They want to make sure the money is going for legitimate programs and not be wasted. They also want to use their business acumen to insure their money has a source for continued funding. The old story of if I could teach a man to fish, I would not have to give him a fish. It is not as bad as you perceive it. The wealthy in our soceity have done many good deeds. If you study history, John D. Rockefeller always gave 10% of his income to others. Did you know that he established Spellman College for the education of Black women?. This was in a time that not only was the education of women not seen as popular but Black women? Andrew Carnegie established the idea of a free library for all. You can see his monument today in New York. It is called the New York Free Public Library. He built it from his own money. One of the finest libraries in this country.
It is too bad we have people like Paris Hilton and Donald Trump make a mockery of our capitalist system by saying "Look at me, I 'm rich, I'm cool". No wonder countries that do not have it as good as us hate us.

Don't make your stomach upset. There are a number of people who want to help our whole world. Here is thought for you: Our atheltes have to perform for our enjoyment. If you do not perform, you are let out of your contract and not killed in front of 70,000 people.

He is a product, and perhaps you envy his success. You have no control over anything he does.

You can only control what you do. How about starting with selling your computer and using the money you pay for your internet service and send the proceeds to Oxfam or some group that helps to feed hungry people instead of "wasting" your time on the internet if you really want to help people.

Why pick on him, didnt Alex Rodriguez get the same amount, in fact he got salary PLUS endorsements whereas Beckhams salary alone is much lower.

Don't get me wrong it is obscene but no more so than some others.

Well, if they are going to pay the money for him then it's their money. *shrugs*

They aren't out to save millions of children. They want to make soccer more popular in the USA.

Imagine the difference it would make if these celebrities used their money for good,by helping the underprivileged, rather than selfishly hoarding it.
