Latin for Bible alone. Luther helped to start the protestant churches with these four maxims:

Sola scriptura, Sola fida, Sola gratia, Sola Christa- Bible alone, faith alone, grace alone, Christ alone.

Jesus alone is all sufficient! When Luther rediscovered that we are saved by "faith", not "works". [dark ages where the church got rick teaching men to buy thier way out of hell.]

Today we have reentered the dark ages. Faith is made into a work to replace other works. Paul's deffinition of Faith is opposite of works. Not even faith can earn you Heaven! That's Good News- it doesn't depend on our daubts! Jesus loves ME- that is enouph. I trust that if He loves me then He will come again to take me to heaven. {Note: the word "trust" as used, is not a requirement but rather a resting of my hope.}

Wikipedia would be a great place to look this up. Basically, the idea is that the scriptures alone are enough to learn about God and know Him and all He wants from you (that it's the only source for doctrine). As opposed to "prima scriptura" which says that the Bible is the starting point for learning doctrine, but that it is improved by reference to other sources.
