Go to a good travel agent. Most of them know all about them, can give you the same price as the internet or cruise line agent, plus give you all the information you need....and they do not charge you for it.

If you want to leave from Los Angeles, you're going to have to get a connecting cruise. That means that you take a cruise from Los Angeles to Seattle, and then stay on the same ship which will go from Seattle to Alaska. It cost about $200 more and I don't think it's really worth it. But, you can only do this once every season. I think the only time you can get a connecting cruise from Los Angeles to Seattle is in late April or early May so you better hurry.

If you mean the best price on a cruise call the cruise line direct. If you mean both cruise & airfare they can do that too also in you are a member of AAA they can save you alot. Once you get to Seattle airport best to take a cab to ship. Alot less waiting around. Only $40.00 tip included for 2 people. Plus, you will get there alot faster.

The Alaska cruise season runs from About Mid-May trough September. The May and September cruises are slightly less than those in mid-summer. But, you need to book early as the lowest prices will go first. Also, you need to shop the cruise lines that do Alaska, Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Holland America would be my recommendation. We did Alaska on Princess.
The best Alaska cruise experience is the CRUISE-TOUR. Princess, Holland America, and Royal Caribbean all run cruise tours which take you by train all the way to Fairbanks, Alaska. Princess and RC have special domed train cars for this. Your best chance to see wild animals will be if you do a cruise-tour where you go further north after cruising the inside passage. The only animals you are likely to see in the inside passage is seals. On these tours You can arrange to stop for a night or two in Taketna, or Denali National Park. This will be your best opportunity to see Moose, Caribou, eagle, wolf, and bear. But you really need two days at Denali so that you have time to get one of the Park Service's busses that go deep into the park. Regular tour busses , cars and campers can only go about 3 or 4 miles into the park. The Park Service runs busses about 17 miles into the park, but you must get to the visitor center very early to reserve a spot on one of their busses. The train stops going
north and south do not get you to Denali in time or allow enough time for the deep back country busses. With Princess, Holland America, and RC you can do the tour part first and then go to Seward or Whittier to get on ship for the inside passage part. I recommend doing the tour part first.
Alaska cruises and tours are mostly scenic and cultural. The usual stops for the inside passage portion are Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and College Fjords. The scenic parts are the animals, mountains, glaciers, fjords, and waterfalls. The cultural parts are the Alaska Native, gold rush, fishing industry, and historical sites.

Travel Agents certainly do charge a fee...if you want the best deal, shop around. Go to a travel agent, they will advise you of the best cruise line that best suits your needs, and style, and they will give you some very good info. After your info gathering, you can contact the cruise lines directly, or check out their web sites, and you get info on their 'deals'. Educate yourself to the fullest. We loved the Alaskan cruise. We sailed with Carnival, on the Spirit, and it was fantastic!.
We DO recommend taht you stick with Carnival off-shore excursions and book thru Carnival, or with whichever Cruise line you sail with. If your excursion is late...and we DID have that happen....then the ship will wait for your return. If you do a private tour, they will not.

Don't wait to book. You are not going to get a Caribbean rate on Alaska either so don't expect 399 per person. If you book a May or Sept sailing then it is cheaper. July is the most expensive. I work for a cruise line and they are over 65% sold out for their Seattle sailings.

I would book something now, anything booked really far in advance usually gets upgraded. We went to Alaska out of Seattle (2 or 3 years ago), we cruised with Princess the inside Passage it was absolutely fabulous. I would definately recommend warm clothing we went in late August and it was chilly. Enjoy!!!!

Best port to leave from is definitely Seattle. You don't have international charges that way.
For best prices go to cruisedirect.com and search for the cruise you'd like.
Loved Alaskan cruise. It was wonderful.

Go to this website as soon as possible. There aren't many spots left. You will not find a better deal. Send me and email if you're interested. Leaves from Seattle on May 18.
