My daughter is 6 and really wants a perm.

Please don't do it!!! My mom permed my hair when I was 5 and I honestly believe that is why I have such fine thin hir now! As a hair dresser, I suggest to my clients that NO chemicals should put on the hair until at least 15 or 16 years of age!

the best thing is to wait until after she hits puberty. Before she does the perm might not take. If you do get her one now really talk to the stylist and make sure they are watching it very closely. Little girls hair takes a perm so fast sometimes in 2-3 mins. Alot of childrens hair will damage really quick so if the stylist doesn't get the perm off as soon as it's done it will be ruined and take forever to get healthy again

My mom permed my hair when I was in kindergarten! I kept getting perm every yr. untill I got to 6th gread, that's when I said enough! lol My hair isn't damaged or anything, She should be fine, just let her know that it's stinky, sometimes it may sting and she's gonna have to sit still for a long while!

thats kind of really early. i would wait until like 14 or 15. perms are really bad for your hair. it dries them up like crazy. happened to mine.

SWEETIE NO WAIT TILL SHE IS 13 YEARS OLD I KNOW MANY WOMEN WHO PERMED THEIR HAIR VERY YOUNG AND THEIR HAIR WAS DAMAGES PLEASE LET HER JUST HAVE KIDDY HAIR STYLES THATS FOR HER AGE BECAUSE A PERM IS TOO STRONG FOR HER EVEN IF ITS A PERM FOR YOUNG KIDS I STILL WOUDNT TRUST IT BELEVE ME IF U WANT UR 6 YEAR OLD TO HAVE LONG HAIR DONT PERM IT. IF U REALLY WANT HER TO HAVE NICLE HEALTHY HAIR I THINK U SHOULD MESSAGE COCUNUT OIL IN HER HAIR.
