They throw insults at Godly people every chance they get. Is this because they are mean or just mad?

I can't actually insult something that doesn't exist. When I make comments about god, they're all facetious. It's all in jest. I'm not joking about something REAL.

I don't think of myself as mean. You might get miffed when I say things about your imaginary friend that you don't like, but that's not my "meanness", that's your "self-righteousness".

Well...another person who likes to generalize people. NO...not ALL atheists are mean hearted OR angry. Many of us are happy with our lives and we really don't care if others believe or not. Very few true atheists throw insults at "Godly people". That is usually the work of anti-theists...big difference between an atheist and an anti-theist. You really should stop trying to stir up trouble because that is all you are doing by making generalized statements about people. Educate yourself a bit more. And since you are fairly new here, try to get to know people a bit before you start your little rant session the next time.

An interesting way to phrase Your question. Totally inbiased and unswervingly rational without one single generalisation.
Am I mean hearted? I am a Male Nurse who works for a christian organisation (The Presbyterian Church) that runs Aged Care Centres through out Australia. I do charity work. I do volunteer work, and I donate My free time to assist with Community Based Charity fund raising activities. Yes, that's right. You do not have to 'be' a christian in order to 'do' christian works. Nor must You believe in a God in order to believe in "the better angles of Our nature" or to do Good merely for the sake of doing what is right , rather than that which will see You through the gates of Heaven! So much for Your religion's sole right to determine what is to be done to assist the sick, the elderly, the poor, the dispossessed or, the needy.
Ouch. I bet that that one must have hurt. The truth and facts of life are always the best 'insults', don't You think?
By 'mad' I take it that You are asking, "Am I angry"? The negativity contained within Your 'question' (ever heard of a diatribe?) would make any thinking person 'mad' at You. Sorry to disillusion You but My atheist leanings have nothing to do with My outlook upon the world and the people there on. It is beyond the realms of comprehension that You could equate My lack of 'Your' faith with an innate miserliness of compassion, or meanness of concern for the welfare, well being or wellness of My fellow human beings. But then of course I am not trying to prove that Christians are the best people on the face of the planet, am I?

Look, if you don't want your beliefs to be made fun of, then don't have such funny beliefs. How can I take someone seriously if they believe the sun stood still, a donkey talked, the Red Sea parted, a man walked on water, God came to Earth in the form of a baby born from a 13-year-old virgin (yet somehow remained in heaven at the same time), and all humans came from one man and one woman who lived in a garden with two magical trees and a talking snake? Seriously, do you even think about how all that must look to a nonbeliever like me? It's like you're admitting that you believe Aesop's Fables were true stories, or that you still leave out milk and cookies for Santa!

And you know what's the worst part? The worst part is that *I* used to believe all that nonsense, too! Do you have any idea how embarrassing it is to admit that I used to be so gullible? Yeah, I once believed there was this powerful being with scary magic powers, living on some other plane of existence, and that if I didn't worship him and tell him how great he was, he'd send me to this awful place of eternal burning fire as punishment--but if I was really good and did exactly what he said, he'd take me to this beautiful place where nobody ever cried or was sad and I'd see all my pets and loved ones again. This is the stuff YOU believe, too, and you don't even know how childish it all sounds. I feel sorry for you and I really hope you outgrow this fairy-tale-believing stage, as I did. I just wish I had done it sooner.

I am not an Atheist, however, I have many atheist friends. Most of them are very tolerant of religion and respect peoples beliefs. At the same time there are a few that are not tolerant at all. Just like there are some Christians who condemn all atheists and "non" christians as evil. There are always a few rotten apples in BOTH barrels that spoil things for the rest of us. Do not worry about people who post comments who obviously have a chip on there soldier. I pray that these people will find peace and contentment.

Probably the same reason 'Godly' people throw insults at Atheists every chance they get. People are people, religion doesn't change them. Mean people will always be mean.

Angry because they have no real proof to support what they say as you have no real proof to support the existence of God other than love and "the perfection of the world, life, human body" and other similar arguments that will never convince them. So..lacking any real, convinving, tangible evidence by both sides it's unlikey to ever reach an agreement between the parties. and I can't talk for every and each one of them, but those who really do nothing but insult you are surely angry and/or frustrated about not being able to demonstrate what they believe (it can also be mere hatred though).

As a Christian I think that they are mad and they have a right to be. All of you born againers leave the Atheist alone. If God wants them, He will go find them. You would be angry too if every time you walk down the street someone was handing you a flier about Atheism and asking you if you were ready to hear truth or suffer forever, etc., etc. Just leave them alone!!

I remember the anger I felt when I found out there was no such thing as santa...it hurt, but I got over it.

I don't believe they are mean hearted people, rather than people who have a tremendous sense of reality since realistically there is no proof either way...

I've got a pretty good chance to throw an insult at you right now, but instead I'm just going to ask you nicely to stop spreading hateful stereotypes. Your question is a poorly veiled insult and you know it.

dude just because some atheists are like that doesn't means all of them are, like just cuz some buddhism uses matrial arts to beat up people doesn't means all are, or just cuz some jews were part of jesus death doesn't means all are, or just because some christians doesn't believe in science and thinks it's devil works doesn't means all of them are stupid in fact theres many christ scientists, or just because some muslims are bombers doesn't means all are, or just because some hindus doesn't take shower doesn't means all are unclean................ I can go on forever but I'm sure you get the point, just becasuse some atheists being rude and insult your believe doesn't means that all atheists are like that. So ignore who ever say that offended you and go on with your believe.
