I hate agree with mom but this one is actually true. When I was in school I tried it so I do know what I'm talking about. Now in 23 I've been a paramedic for four years and have seen far too many overdoses. The problem is pot slow your breathing and heart rate down so much it can actually send you into cardiac arrest. My advice: keep your doses small, and stay at home so you don't get hurt while using.
P.S. Drink a lot of water afterward... helps flush out your body.

There has never in history been a recorded death due to overdose of marijuana. In fact, it has been lab tested by scientists to determine this, and it would be physically impossible to smoke the amount of marijuana in the time needed to overdose. For more detail, see below:

Drugs used in medicine are routinely given what is called an LD-50. The LD-50 rating indicates at what dosage fifty percent of test animals receiving a drug will die as a result of drug induced toxicity. A number of researchers have attempted to determine marijuana's LD-50 rating in test animals, without success. Simply stated, researchers have been unable to give animals enough marijuana to induce death.

8. At present it is estimated that marijuana's LD-50 is around 1:20,000 or 1:40,000. In layman terms this means that in order to induce death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette. NIDA-supplied marijuana cigarettes weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response.

I think the lethal dose is something like 15lbs but that was only a educated guess by some experts made back in the 80's. to date at least on record there have been no deaths related to marijuana use alone. there isn't even one case of lung cancer that has been attributed to marijuana use alone.

No it's not true..however..your mother loves you!!! and doesn't want you getting hurt in situations where pot use could kill you!
Such as driving, getting involved in crime, and a whole host of situations where your impaired state puts you at risk for a dumb idea or decision or friends that will come up with idea's. Trust me your Mom is right in caring about you...now go give her a hug!

Take Care and Behave!

No you can't. I don't think she is lying. They've been feeding people so much bullsh*t about the "dangers" of marijuana for so long that she probably believes it.

Princess 1,
Always listen to your mother. You'll be glad you did when you're older.

Only if it's laced with some dangerous chemical. And it sometimes is, though not usually.

No it's not true.

I've tried.

She might be thinking of water, which has caused more overdoses.
