The earth doesn't hang on anything. It's held in orbit by gravity from the nearest star to us, what we call the sun.

Science didn't "discover" that the earth hangs over nothing ever. It never taught that the Earth DID hang over something.
The closest teaching to that was the story of Atlas holding up the sky, but that was fable.
Besides, the science in this section is simply awful. Water is not wrapped in clouds, but IS clouds. Clouds do not hold water, they aren't containers. Clouds ARE water.
Space isn't empty. Far from it, it is filled with energy and even matter (just in lesser quantities). The point of this part of Job is not to be a scientific exposition, but a discourse on the power of God.
