Now a team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg.

Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.

Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.

In nature, living things evolve through changes in their DNA. In an animal like a chicken, DNA from a male sperm cell and a female ovum meet and combine to form a zygote -- the first cell of a new baby chicken. This first cell divides innumerable times to form all of the cells of the complete animal. In any animal, every cell contains exactly the same DNA, and that DNA comes from the zygote.

Chickens evolved from non-chickens through small changes caused by the mixing of male and female DNA or by mutations to the DNA that produced the zygote. These changes and mutations only have an effect at the point where a new zygote is created. That is, two non-chickens mated and the DNA in their new zygote contained the mutation(s) that produced the first true chicken. That one zygote cell divided to produce the first true chicken.

Prior to that first true chicken zygote, there were only non-chickens. The zygote cell is the only place where DNA mutations could produce a new animal, and the zygote cell is housed in the chicken's egg. So, the egg must have come first.

Egg comes frist (The egg is from the other speices which were called chicken but looked alike) . There were some animals which looked similar to the chicken (for example ducks). After thousands of year of mutation and evolution. They produced the chicken egg. After the egg was broke the real chicken came out.
Therefore the egg first.

Let me give you a clearer example.
Thoundsandsof year ago. There was no human only monkeys or gorillas. After thousands of year of mutation and evolution. They borned some humans looked like creatures. Then these humans alike creatures kept produced aftersprings.
One day the aftersprings ( pretty much looked like humans at the time) produced the human baby. Then the bady grew up. Thats where the humans started.

The chicken egg the could be said to be the aftersprings' sperms and eggs. And the chicken was like the human baby. Therefore Egg came first.

And I have another clearer example. (This might offend some people but I didnt do it on purpose please forgive me. >< ! )
Long time ago there were only perfect humans. One day they produced a baby which had some problems for example different color skin, low IQ or cripple .
The baby was like the chicken. The sperms and the eggs of the perfect humans were like the chicken Egg. Therefore Egg coms first.

The chicken came first. You see, Yahoo Answers was around at the time, and the question “Why did the chicken cross the road?” came up, and… by golly, there was no chickens, no eggs anywhere!!
They hadn't been invented yet!!
So, chickens were invented so that they could cross the road, and therefore, they came before the egg.

The reason the chicken crossed the road, was to lay the first egg. The chicken had heard that life was better on the other side of the road, and it wanted its eggs to get the best.

More than likely the neither as the egg would have come first but likely came from a similar creature to the chicken that just slowly developed through the process of natural selection and evolution.

In other words both as the egg came first but was not born from a chicken as you know it today but a very similar ancestral bird and thus it can be argued that it was not a chicken egg the chicken was born from but the egg of that ancestral bird with a evolved fetus that developed into the modern chicken. Hence it depends on how you look at it.

The ROOSTER and the egg were created simultaneously. The egg hatched into a hen, and they produced the ancestors of all modern chickens.
