Click on the help menu and select "About Microsoft Office Word""

Click on (Help | About) and you should be able to see the version and build information. This works for the majority of Microsoft and/or Windows software.

If you go to help -> about ..., it should tell you the version. This is true for many programs.

open word then go to help and click on about :D
