I am just getting over the stomach flu. Today is the first day I have felt remotely okay. Now my dog and cat are throwing up? Did they catch the flu from me?

They are both completely up to date on all of their shots. it would be very odd for them to both get into the same thing if they ate something, the cat avoids the dog like the plague.

They do not get table scraps and I actually went to the hospital for my illness. It was gastroenteritis.

a large range of animals cna catch the flu. including cats and dogs. so yes, it's possible that your cat & dog has caught the flu from you, considering its contagious. but dont jump into conclusions. it could be something that they're eating/drinking too. my advice is to take them to the vet ASAP to be sure 100%. i hope you and your pets feel better soon. :-)

How long have you been sick? It is possible that YOU caught something from your pets. But unlikely that they have caught something from you. The ferret is the only animal that I know of that can catch the flu from a human.

Do you feed your animals table scraps? Is it possible that you had a touch of food poisioning and they digested some of the food as well?

If they are still sick tomorrow, call your vet and explain their symptoms.

Best wishes!

Yes, it's absolutely possible. They also get hayfever like humans. Most things, pets and people don't share...but there are some things we do! Really, there's no such thing as a 'stomach flu', but there are SOME stomach viruses and bacteria that can be passed to pets, or aquired from pets. Not all, but some! Just look at bird flu, and small pox.

It is very hard for animals to catch illnesses from us, but it is possible. Is it possible they both got into something like antifreeze or some kind of pest poison. My friends dog ate rat poison and got very ill.

Doubtful. Normally the flu doesnt transmit across species.

It is really possible that they did. Animals can get mostly anything we can. They get cancer, sore paws or some other body part, stomach aches, basically anything. But just to be safe i would call your vet!

I know dogs can get the mumps from people so I will guess it is possible to get a stomach bug too.
