I want to know if anybody is getting an online highschool education and what do they think about it. Does it work? Is it easy? And can anybody get homeschooled or an online education. I live far away from school and I think it would just be easier if I just stayed home, and probaly keep me considerated. I get a on my report card...incase that is one of the qualifications........but ....um ya just try to give as much info as you guys can...and personal experience would be great......cuz it's a big desecion to make.

Go to school...use the school on the internet to get ahead. You need to learn how to deal in the dificult social environment of Highschool if you want to servive successfully in the rest of the world... you will do yourself a dissrevice by staying at home...unless, of course, you live in one of the colorful urbanite settings where the morining welcome at the local highschool is the beep of a metal detector and the cold proding of a detection wand...then stay home.

It only works if you are dedicated and highly motivated. It is a lot harder than real school, you have to teach everything to yourself and rely on yourself without much outside help. Its very rewarding though. You also cover more, like at normal school they dont usually go through the whole book but here you probably will. You dont have outside distractions and have more free time to yourself to do other things. You can work at your own pace. There is a lot of online institutions like Stratford, or James Madison, I would google it and see which one you can most afford and live closest to. If you are just now getting into it the social part shouldnt be a big deal. You will have already learned how to socialize and deal with confrontations and such. Just try and keep in touch with friends from school, otherwise you are going to feel left out.

It is a very impressive thing that you are doing, considering taking
that step. Especially if you get A's. Before you take the plunge though (in grade 10!), try to find out if there are any other kids who live nearby that are home schooled. You can get together with them as part of schooling is interacting with other people in groups or teams (which is a necessary skill in college and then your work life later on). Can you take a few courses at a local university? Both myself and my husband took college (county/university) classes in 11th & 12th grades and had a huge number of credits towards college (which can save on college expenses and make you look awesome on a college essay). One part of home schooling will be having a parent create the lesson plan and grade it. You will require tutors at your own families expense as well. Other than that I leave it to the pros- good luck! PS. look at classes at the university of phoenix and see if anything interests you then sign up for one.

I'm doing Cyber school and I love it!!! I'm going to be doing it forever! (Well, 4 more years!) I think you should check out a cyber/charter school in your area. You'll proabably fid it fun and enjoyable. You do get collage credits and even a graduation ceremony somewhere with others from your school. (At least that's what PA Cyber Schools do). I hope you find what's best for you!

You could join a Yahoo! homeschooling group for help on finding the right cyber/charter school for you!

Oh yeah you were wondering if it's easy. It is if you're a hard worker! And it definatly works! I'm loving math this year (prealgebra) but last year when I was doing it on my own I found it hard to concentrate. The teachers at Cyber School and the in depth books and work inrich my learning experence. I know that if I dropped this school and went to public school I wouldn't be getting anything better at public school.

I know people who have done online high school and graduated and were quite happy with the experience. It can be demanding, but that just means a better education, right?

If you could share where you live, it'd be easier to tell you about programs in your area. Local school boards may even have an online program for you to sign up with.

Get a GED and go to community college. It's the best and fastest way to get a good education. Find GED classes and such. If i could do it agin to get HS over with faster GED all the way!

A GED is the same as graduating high school and stands for general education degree

Emmy Rossum (Phantom of the Opera) got her high school on line but she was very busy with film projects.
If you are just going to be at home, I would be concerned about the lack of social interaction with kids your age. Would you have major time scheduled for other activities with your peers ?

for me i won't opt for home-schooling or education from the internet as i know i will tend to stray from what i was supposed to do. i will have the mindset as in, i can always put things till tomorrow...but if you think you won't stray, then go ahead...
