Oh my... my greatest hope is that the previous answerers are right... that countries are growing less religious. We can only work towards peace through the alleviation of religious division.

China.
Replaced with capitalism and party whorship, although even that is being replaced by the new faith of the 21st Century, Consumerism...
How many whorship at the altar of the mall? The decline of religion is not necessarily a continuing trend. It perhaps highlights the growth of people being educated to a higher degree and moving away from ascetic values and towards secular ideas (expanding their own knowledge base thus moving away from the traditional single knowledge base of a centralised church), explains the break down of the family unit and the progression towards an ideal of the individual. But this may just be another trend that will reverse or evolve in time. Society's progression has an ebb and flow. I mainly refer to western cultures.
This is in opposition to a society where a centralised church still retains control over education and may even sway government. In that kind of climate religion actually gains in popularity dependant on the flow of information manipulated by the people at the top. A Theocracy is still a totalitarian system, in a pluralistic system, people have a wide range of sources on which to base personal judgements, but in a climate where religion, not faith, seeps into every strata of society then more often than not there is only a single acceptable source of knowledge. As one sub-section of a society becomes more fluid, moderate and more readily open to change then other more rigid systems will become reactionary to this change as change threatens the status quo and those individuals in power.

Most of the western world is becoming less religious. In the next 25-30 years, most of Canada, Great Britain and Europe will be atheist. The US will also change to become more atheist, albeit more slowly.

Sweden is a great example. it is about 85% now. Most of Europe is moving in the same direction. Even the US the non-religious category is the fastest growing as a function of percentage.
I'll post a source in a second.

It is natural. Almost each country is becoming less religious.
The most ancient Vedic Scriptures from India explain this phenomenon. According to the scriptures we are passing through the millenium called Kali-yuga (Age of quarrel and hypocrisy).
As this millenium progresses people will become less religious, less compassionate, more lazy, having short memory, shorter age and generally they will be unfortunate.
Now we are about 5000 years in this millenium and it will last for another 427,000 years.
The only way to avoid facing this is to become a devotee of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Just chant His holy names and He promises that if you remember Him at the time of leaving this body He will take you back home - back to Godhead.
Chant
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
and ensure a blissful life.

Depends over what timescale. All Western countries save for you know where (USA to spell it out) have a far lower proportion of people who believe in a personal god than 100 years ago.
And most people in the world includes India and China whose combined population outnumbers both Muslims and Christians so any answers that do not reference them are incomplete.
