I was good friends with a girl for 5 years and dated her for 8 months. The relationship ended harshly and we tried to be friends afterwards, but we weren't over each other. We agreed to go 2 months without seeing or speaking so we can get over each other. 2 months isn't a long time, but the longest we've ever been apart is 3 weeks. Is there any simple way to keep my mind off of her? She's one of my best friends and I want to get over her so we can be friends again.

The question you really should be asking yourself is: "can you go back to being friends after being BF & GF?" If you think you can, then you don't need any time to get over each other. You said the relationship ended harshly, both of you will have to get closure over this before you can truly go back to being just friends again, because if you don't have closure, your friendship will be in trouble.

Take a class, exercise and enlarge your social circle. So, you will have different point of view about the relationship.

Commit suicide or hire a hitman to kill her because that's more likely to succeed.

It will be tough but you need to give her the space.
