First of all they don't even worship Satan. It's not a religion but a half-baked unoriginal philosophy. It's more of a Lex Luthor fan-club except more embarrassing because they take it seriously.

i don't think you really understand satanism - firstly it there are several differeent groups who are labelled satanist , the most prtominent of these groups is The church of satan founded by Le Vey which worships the human ego and libido ,and the temple of Set which derives from ancient egyptian diety combined with a thelemic perspective
the temple of set concepts actually predate christ, however it has only been brought back into the fore front of society in the last 100 years or so , as for the church of satan name me one person that doesn't worship their own ego ,

Well, there are those who call themselves Satanists, but really just like the shock factor and don't do a thing "religiously".
Then there are real Satanists, those who actually worship and seek to act upon his will.

Their philosophy is fine. It makes a lot of sense. Al least they don't believe in a mysterious all powerful invisible man that is going to send everybody to another mysterious place where they will suffer eternal torment

LeVey named it that cause it would stir up the most contraversey, he said Satan is seen as the big "anti" in christian america.
If we were a majority lucifarian, they would be called "god-ists"
