What I personally would suggest from spending many hours researching muscle building. Take the creatine closer to your workout, probably right after. Take the whey protein either an hour or two before...or take some casesin protein at night. From what I've read, muscles recover and build back up faster at night, and Caesin protein disolves slower, so its the perfect kind to take right before bed. But as long as you dont take the creatine and whey too close to each other, its good taking them both.

It is fine because how the body uses whey protein and creatine are different. However, it will help better if you take creatine with a high glycaemic index drink because creatine gets into the muscle cells faster and more effectively when there's an increase in blood insulin. Whey protein doesn't stimulate insulin production.

IMHO, don't. Consumer Reports just published an article that shows 15 out of 15 protein powders they purchased contained heavy metals, some in amounts where the recommended use of the product would lead to heavy metal poisoning. This is on top of a study they published last summer showing undeclared pharmaceutical grade medicines in many weight loss supplements. These are not the only articles that have been published regarding supplements. Just about any scientific study of them has shown no effect to dangerous effects. Supplements are not regulated or tested in any rigorous scientific manner in the US. Food is, medicine is, but supplements are not. It's best to stay away.

Creatine is a waste of time.
It's expensive, and it is more or less useless because it doesn't really help you build operative muscle. Protein before and after working out will help you build muscle and keep it much better than creatine (not to mention once you stop using creatine you will lose much of the strength you gained on it.)

creatine does not remain stable in solution it will break down into creatinine if left that way for too long. the best thing to do is to put your creatine in some liquid and slam it down. that way you can drink your protein shake over a much larger period of time like 30-45 minutes...

unless you are training for power and explosion...the creatine is superfluous in congruence with the proper protein regiment. Don't waste your time or money with creatine...my opinion.
