My husband and I just got a beautiful AKC registered purebred st bernard. Within minutes we fell in love with this big lug. We have seen lots of pictures of st bernards with kegs of whiskey around their neck. We don't drink, and we don't want her to wear it, but we would like one of those kind of as a souvenire. We have truly found our favorite dog breed and really badly want one. Do you know where we could get the keg that they put around the st bernard's neck?

Hey, read before you answer some of you. I want it as a souvinir, something to put on a shelf, with her picture...I don't want alcohol in it...I don't drink...and she will never wear it, unless she is getting her picture professionally taken or something. Thank you down there though for the website...that's nice!

FYI. They didn't actually carry whiskey around. That is just a myth.

from Wikipedia:

St. Bernards are often portrayed, especially in comics and cartoons, with small barrels of brandy worn around their necks. This was supposedly used to warm the victims that the dogs found. However, the monks deny that any St. Bernard has ever carried casks or small barrels around their necks; they believe that the origin of the image is an early painting. The monks did keep casks around for photographs by tourists.[5]

St Bernards originated in Switzerland , in the snow on the mountains they were kept by monks. They rescued people out there and there was BRANDY kept in the keg to help the people they rescued!
