The person who suggested drinking half of your lbs. in oz.s of water was correct... but with one addition... you should try to get in at least 64 ozs a day no matter your weight, unless your weigh more than 128lbs (thats 64oz of water)... then drink half your weight. So...
90lbs = 64oz
110lbs = 64oz
200lbs = 100oz
...and so on. Just don't go too crazy, you technically can die of too much water (washes out your electrolytes).

The general rule of thumb that I heard was convert your weight into ounces and drink half that much. For example, you would drink 50 oz. of water per day if you weigh 100 lb.

64 oz would be the bare minimum.
obviously a 200 lb man needs substantially more water than a 100 lb female. and a person that exercises religiously needs more water than a couch potato.
you would also obviously require a higher water intake if you performed construction in the middle of the summer in Dallas where it's very humid as you would in San Diego where it is not.
that being said water intake will and should vary from person to person. some of these things are just common sense...
the key is not not let yourself get thirsty. once you are your body is already dehydrated.

My doctor has supervised my weight loss of 130 pounds and he insists on a minimum of 64 ounces. More if possible.
