I am specifically referring to obesity.

There is a very simple solution to losing weight:
1. eat less
2. exercise

There is no excuse for not being able to do these things.

If it were that easy, would anyone be obese?

Btw, not all are "able to do these things" ... think of your own flaw and answer that same statement, there is no excuse for not being able to do these things.

It's nice to see that you know exactly how to solve the obesity problem.

I could point out that a large number of obesity related problems stem from a pre-existing health issue that caused the obesity in the first place. I could also point out that the "obesity" problem is really a poverty problem - most obese people are so because they have very little money and it is infinitely cheaper to buy a Big Mac and fries than a salad and clean bottled water.

But I don't think you would listen to either, so continue to make a complicated problem look like a simple self-control issue.

Eating less is not necessarily good advice. Eating -differently- is generally good advice. The American diet is far too centered on animal products (meaning lots of cholesterol) and processed food rather than whole foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables and grains.

Exercise sure is some good advice too. I see people taking the bus to the gym to walk on a treadmill. That's just sad. Just walk somewhere sometimes! There's no need to do insane superhuman cardio. Just be reasonably active and you'll be fine.

Not sure what the "even religious people" is for, as it seems to me that religious people would be less likely to be worried about their health. When they have a heart attack from cholesterol clogging their arteries (really a disgusting thought if you stop to think about it), they go on to a better place. I, not believing that I have any other life than this one, am far more likely to take good care of myself so I can enjoy my life as long as possible.

I eat 2 times a day.

i have oatmeal (plain) for breakfast and only eat one cup of it for energy.

and then i have a dinner that follows the food pyramid.

I work in a warehouse for 12 hours a day and do plenty of heavy lifting and walking around the plant on my delivery runs. (a step measurement device put me at walking 5 miles a day just at work)

at home i do 10 push ups and 10 sit ups every night before bed and repeat this in the morning.

Yet i am still over 400 pounds and have been since the 10th grade in high school. my arms and legs are solid muscle, but i have a 57 inch waist that is a lot of belly and A**.

my wife is heavier than i am. and it is not because of over eating, she has a gland disorder. even with gastric bypass surgery she has no chance of loosing weight without liposuction. why should we endure Painful and dangerous surgeries to conform to your shallow views.

Try being in hypothyroid hell for years and not know it. It makes you feel crazy, lose your hair, you start to gain weight like crazy and want to sleep 20 hours out of the day. All while you do not know what the frell is happening to you! UGh!

Sure, other people might just start out being a bit lazy, but, what are the stats on people losing weight and keeping it off? 5%?

Then people start to yo-yo. That's worse than staying at their old weight. Most end up gaining more and more. It's a bad cycle.

Some obesity isn't caused by gluttony and laziness, but by hormonal problems, medications, etc. Whatever the reason, religious people should be able to just pray to their chosen deity to make the problem go away. Isn't that what deities are for?

No excuse? Have you ever seen a wheelchair bound person run a marathon? What about an arthritic grandmother, whose joints ache at the slightest movement? Should she be expected to live up to your standards?Come down off your highhorse, sweetie. Your arrogance is showing.

The human mind in modern time has become too induldged, and undisicplined for anyone to do anything that is right. We need to start living more Spartan.
