since its your first ticket all you need is just to go to the court date that was asign to you the day you got the ticket and pled guilty and see if you can take a defenseive driving course cause all you need is to go to that and you won't have to pay a single penny to the court.

If you can't "do the time" don't do the crime. You were breaking the law by speeding so now you have to pay the piper. Learn from this experience and don't do it again. Sometimes if you go in front of the judge and admit that you were IN THE WRONG and act appropriately sorry they will reduce the fine. DO NOT "play dumb" and be respectful to the judge. Dress nicely. You're lucky, I was going 17 over the speed limit where I live and got a ticket for over $300. BTW...I have never heard of someone doing community service or being put on probation for speeding. You weren't driving while suspended or under the influence were you? Is there something you're not telling us?

Go to court and ask to keep off record. Almost all courts have a first offender program that will allow you to keep the ticket off your record. If you are asking how to beat the offense itself then that is a much more difficult task. You will have to attack the method used to catch you. If Radar then attack the training of the officer, he has to be certified and the machine has to have been calibrated properly as well as certified. If laser the same but much harder to beat because of narrow band aimed at car. Best bet is to pay fine and keep off record. Much cheaper to pay court than insurance over next 3-5 yrs depending on state.

The only way is to make sure you show up for the first court date issued which should be within 30 days. If they haven't sent one you need to call because it is very important to go when they send you a date. If the cop that issued you the ticket does not show up they drop the case.

This is the only way I know of beating the case unless you have proof you were not going that fast.

Note what the weather conditions were that day. LIDAR (laser) guns will not work accurately in foggy, rainy or dusty conditions. Ask the police/trooper/sheriffs department for the LIDAR guns records. Was it recently calibrated? Were their other cars immediately next to you?

This website will give you all of the info you need:

If you sincerely believe that you were not speeding, then it is appropriate to challenge it. If you are just trying to get out of a ticket, then you should just pay the fine.

Actually not. 17 MPH is still over the speed limit, no matter how you cut it. I'm sorry, but you're going to be stuck with this one.

However, if you go to traffic school, it won't raise your insurance or go on your record.

get a mechanic to "check" your vehicle and give you a letter on letterhead stating defective equipment. You'll still have to pay court related costs but no points taken off your drivers license

Look cute and sexy and have the money to bribe the judge. LOL. Just pay your fine and get on with your life and watch your speed.
