Yes, when I was drinking like 5 Mt. Dews a day to get through college, I got horrible heartburn. Once I realized it was the Mt. Dew, I had to quit drinking it cold turkey (which wasn't easy!) to save my poor stomach. Now I can drink it every once in a while and not have a problem.
So! Too much of anything is bad. Drinking pop every once in a while or even a couple every day shouldn't cause problems for you, but more than that might be excessive.
Of course, if you're going to drink pop regularly, I advise drinking diet, so you're not consuming any extra calories. That's if you're an adult, of course. If you're younger, you should probably stick to water and milk and juice, with regular pop just every once in a while, not diet. That's just my own opinion of course!

Yes! I found that when I drank Diet Coke with Lime that I had the worst heartburn ever. It is highly irritating to the stomach and esophgus linings.

I'm from New Orleans and we always say we're going to get a coke, no matter what flavor drink you get. Weird, huh? Either that or we just say a cold drink. We never say pop or soda here. Don't know why.

Yes, setting the sugar and acids aside (which are brutal on your system) the "fizz" sensation is actually brief pain. To much fizz breaks down the skin. Your body does not enjoy the straight CO2 bubbles.
All over bad in large or frequent quantites.
