"This type of assault is a class 3 misdemeanor unless the assault is aggravated by the fact that the victim was on duty at the time of the assault as a police officer, firefighter, paramedic or a licensed health care practitioner (such as a nurse or doctor). If that is the case, then the crime is an aggravated assault and is a class 6 felony. A class 3 misdemeanor is punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine. A class 6 felony is punishable for as little as 4 months or as much as 2 years in prison. "---AZ State

Spitting on troops will get you the same treatment as spitting on a cop. A severe beating. If you want to walk around with your eyes swollen shut and the rest of you in a full body cast for a whole sticky summer, go for it.

If you are both cowardly and stupid enough to spit on us, or anyone for that matter, you deserve whatever retaliation is exacted against you. To answer your question, yes it is against the law to spit on anyone, including those of us in uniform. It's called simple assault. So, before you get all full of yourself and attempt something very stupid, consider the consequences you will incur. You will be hard pressed to find a judge or jury willing to convict a person serving in the military for retaliating against you after spitting on them. Finally, grow up...

From a former soldier. It is illegal! in more ways than one, and if it's pursued by the Military courts you will face every charge possible. Harassment, Assault, Defacing Government Property, Damaging Government Property.
You will not be able to countersue due to the fact that if you spit on a soldier and he beats the **** out of you. It was merely self defence. You started it. He finished it.
I should know these things. At an airport in Chicago a fellow soldier was spit on. Im surprised they didn't give the guy the effing electric chair after all the charges they brought up on him. My buddy walked away from any and all charges brought up against him while the other guy is still in lock-up.

Just try and spit and you'll deal with grannies like me. Two sons were in the military and my future son in law is in Iraq. Trying to keep your butt safe and sound while his life is a living hell. Go a head and spit and I will go shockie chaun on you. You will wish you never met me. If you can't stand in behind our troops then stand in front of them. I dare you to do the job they are doing and live the way they are living. You are lucky this war is in Iraq and not on our soil....then who would be sceaming for military help and who would be spitting on who? Support our troops, they are the red white and blue.

Is it harrassment if you spit on somebody and if they retaliate it will NEVER hold up in court. When you antagonize an act of violence and they defend themselves it is not against the law for the to kick your a**. Spitting on somebody is just grounds for a beatdown but you are free to try. Jerk!

Yes. Spitting on anyone (deliberately anyway) is an assault. A woman was arrested just a couple of months ago for spitting on a soldier in an airport.

Why would you even come up with a question like that? Here's a question for you, why would you spit on a person that is risking his life so that you can ask a stupid question like that? And if you do spit on a soldier, I hope they beat the living **** out of you.

Sue or press charges? Whats the matter can't handle your own business? Try one on for size, then wait, even if it is against the law I do not think they will care.
