You're being brainwashed by school, the media and politicians.
Its highly debatable whether humans are influencing global warming. Every 11,500 years, the earth goes through a major extinction with a global warming and cooling phase (ice age.) Paleontologists are able to track this through soil samples. We may actually be headed into an ice age because we are coming to the tail end of the current cycle. The problem is that the media and politicians get focussed on a piece of the puzzle and try to simplify this issue. Don't be fooled. There is probably nothing humans can do. Even if we could, there is no way you can control China who is becoming a major world polluter. Humans will need to adapt to climate change. Where I live there are small changes in our weather pattern, but nothing major. A lot of the media is hype to sell newspapers. The only caution is that some past climate changes have been more radical, swinging wildly from hot to cold. Others have brought on instant and severe cold conditions. I know the area that I live used to be buried in hundreds on feet of ice, but temperatures are mild today... Humans will just need to wait and see what mother nature brings and adapt as necessary.

I don't "believe" it. It is a fact. Human beings are having an effect on the environment and are a factor in global warming, though not the only factor. Global warming is a complex subject and trying to tie it to one root cause is unrealistic. However, comparing climate trends over the past century to those of the past 400,000 years (I believe that's how far the Russian ice core sample went), there is an undeniable trend towards warming. In addition, we do know that greenhouse gases warm a planet; we can see that on other planets, most notably Venus.

Here's the thing, however - many look at global warming as some sort of doomsday scenario, that we've already wiped out life on this earth. First off, life will continue on this earth; we may not, but life is a lot more resilient, even if it's only bacterial life. Secondly, the scenarios that are used to predict the outcome of this warming trend don't yet have a complete set of data. In truth, the outcome is just as likely to be the worst possible case as it is to be the best possible case. Most likely, it will be somewhere in between.

Finally, I think those who deny global warming (other than the ultra-religious who believe it is a part of prophecy) are often more concerned about how rectifying the problem will effect them and their wallets. That's because global warming has been so politicized by left-wing environmentalists that there is a lot of irrationality surrounding solutions. For instance, one possible way to curb emissions is to switch from coal power plants to nuclear power plants, which are exponential cleaner and safer. Yet, many environmentalists are just as against the use of nuclear power for numerous irrational reasons.

There is a way to deal with this and mitigate the warming (though it is certainly here to stay). There need to be frank and rational discussions about what steps we can take which can then be refined as more data becomes available to scientists.

Not that this will ever happen.

There are several points I would like to make about this:

1. Weather is cyclic and there have been many cycles of warming and cooling, including ice ages and warm tropical periods in the history of Earth for thousands of years. Currently we are in a warming trend that started around the late 18th century. The average temperature worldwide we are experiencing is not above or near temperatures that have been experienced before on this planet.
2. Pollution and Emissions have decreased in the United States since the late 1960s/early 1970s because of heavier regulations relating to manufacturing and disposal of wastes including fines and lwas, unleaded gasoline, ethanol and higher mileage and better built and more efficient vehicles.
3. Emissions have increased in India, China and Brazil and are very unregulated.

Points 1 and 2 make me optimistic that we are not having a significant effect as long as 3 can be controlled. The biggest threat is third world unregulated pollution!!

Yes! Gases created through human industrial and agricultural practices(primarily carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels and wood, as well as methane, nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbons) increase the heat-reflecting potential of the atmosphere, thereby raising the planets average temperature.

They are advancing it, not really the cause.
For example, cars and other forms of transportation ruin the ozone layer. Go hybrid.

yes, 900,000,000 houses with heat on emitting heat out into atmosphere is a very small part of it,
plus 1000,000,000,000 cars on the road,
100,000,000 factories working 3 shifts emitting heat 24 hours a day.

paradoxical though it may seem, but i think we really contributed a lot on the degradation of our environment.. but no matter what we do..the environment has its way of regenerating itself..maybe in a form of a calamityjust to balance the equation..it's inevitable..
