Generally I don't go out of my way to insult believers. However, I do resent being called ignorant, stupid, or immature because I don't believe in gods. I resent being called Un-American because I'm not Christian. The Germans used to do this one, too, except their religion was National Socialism.

If the Christians would be a bit more tolerant of nonbelievers, and laid aside the patronizing attitudes, we might get along better. As long as they insist on asking smug, insulting questions worded like they're addressing a room full of "Special Ed" kids, we're going to respond in kind.
Your question was courteous, and I thank you for that.

Why such a narrow view of the world?

This section is concerned with peoples views on religeon and not with Christians views on Christianity.

Some people react by using insults because of the frustration they feel when confronted with a question which is really designed as a self justification of pre-existing views. For example, it is common to find the Bible being quoted as an absolute authority, even though the Bible is full of 2,000 years of mis-translation. The Bible is the word of God and therefore we need have no geustions since God has already old us everything. Why write to Yahoo if it is all there anyway.

Christian fundamentalists certainly appear to know all the answers so it is more surprising to me that they keep coming here. I am not so arrogant to think that I know all the answers so I come here to try to find out more.

As an Agnostic individual I read through the religion section because there are people who have questions about religion/ beliefs and I feel that it is all of our duties to answer as honestly and openly as we can. I don't tell people that what they believe is bad. I can say that people will probably get after you because of the way you worded your question.... wasn't really a question but more of an attack that will put people on the defensive. But hey that's just what this educated Agnostic thinks!

First of all, learn to spell.

Secondly ther eis NO such thing as a sensible religious person. You lost the right to be called Sensible, when you started worshipping a magic sky-pixie.
After all, would you call someone sensible if they said they worshipped a group of leprechauns in their back yard?
You have as much proof of your god as they do of their leprechauns...

I can point you to 10 insults by Christians of other religions just on this page if you really want me to, but the question is, will you really read them? You see only what you want to see. Christians are spreading hate everywhere I turn.

Probably for the same reason you find it necessary to insult and attempt to demean atheists.

Most Atheists don't. The problem is that the religious can't see past their religion and decide that most answers equate to "you and your god suck".

Because some of us feel we have a duty to help the brain-washed. We are working very hard for a better society, and religion has put itself in our way.

Sorry, but get over it.

Please, work on your education (especially English).

I don't insult *sensible* people.

I defend myself against idiots and use every iota of sarcasm in my body to do so.
