That sounds like a lukewarm response from your family and from his... do you think that feelings are hurt, or that they aren't entirely approving of the relationship or ???
And why aren't you having family there? I understand you are in love 'like crazy' and very much want to be married... but what is the rush?
I can tell you two things for certain:
1. I would be very hurt if my daughter or son were to get married without me there (she's 21, he's 20).
2. My husband and I eloped 23 years ago. We just had a couple of friends at the ceremony and I have regretted for the last 10 years or so that I didn't have a real wedding. (We had always planned to retake our vows in church with a ceremony and reception on our 5th anniversary, then our 10th... etc. etc. Life just gets in the way.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Your wedding is a day to celebrate your life being joined to another's. It should be shared with the people who have been a part of your life and a part of his because now they will be a part of each other's.
If you are wondering if this is the right way to do this, the right thing to do, it probably isn't. Take an extra month or two and let your families be a part of your joy. Or if they live far away you can arrange for a reception in each 'home town': you and your new spouse and your daughter can do the travelling.
Hope it helps!

You're 24, you've known each other 11 months, what's the rush? Why not wait a year or two, really get to know each other, then have a nicer ceremony? Really, I think in the long run you won't regret it. Nobody ever said, "I'm sorry I waited to get married." Also, some counseling by a minister or someone like that would really help since you're young and you've already had a relationship fail. They can really tell a lot about whether you are going to make it.

Is there a reason the family isn't invited? If they don't care then do as you wish.
But since you are having the ceremony at home, it wouldn't be that much more to set up a few chairs & invite the immediate family; you know parents, siblings. If they come, fine, if not, then that should be fine with you ,too.

Is this your first marriage??? His first marriage??? If it is then you will for sure regret not having the family there> But if you think the families of you both won't get along, then go ahead and elope.
If you just don't want a big wedding, you can still have a very nice wedding including the families. They will feel more a part of the family and welcome you both if they are included. But in the end, do what you both agree to.

Honesty I would be offended. Why dont you want family there? I would say if you dont want to have a lot of people at your wedding then why dont you just ONLY invite close family members and a few close friends? Close family and friends would love to witness your and your finances beautiful day.

I wouldn't feel offended, however if you are close to your family, I am sure your family would love to share in this joyous occasion. It's not everyday that someone in the family gets married.
Again, it all depends on your family situation.

What is the question? Are you looking for approval for your choice? You're an adult, ultimately, you will have to live with your own actions. Hopefully, it will be a good decision for your child as well. Good luck, and God Bless!

Nope, not at all. However, I would like to say that the majority of my family elope. So, when a wedding invite does show up we are surprised.
