We aquired an old computer w/windows 95 already installed. It seems to be okay except when scandisk runs it says the 'C:\DIR00001 folder is damaged and is invalid.
Well, yeah.. there is nothing there at all.
Does anyone know how I can get this folder off the internet without reinstalling the entire windows 95 (which is pretty much obsolete now) even according to the MS Support Team where I have already tried. No Luck there!

Can anyone help, this would make a nice second computer for us to just mess around on and play games.. no internet or anything fancy.

Oh, and its MS-DOS, sooo old!

That is not a required folder for Windows 95. That sounds like a folder that was recovered during a scandisk. They rename the files sequentially when it finds file/folders corrupted (like from computer locking up, or turned off without using the Start Shutdown procedure.

Go to a DOS prompt, Start, Run, Command.

Type chkdsk /f Theres a space between the chkdsk and the /f

That will run the DOS utility, chkdsk the the /f parameter is the fix options. See if that helps. One that utility runs, then try to delete the folder from My Computer or Windows Explorer.

But I am 100% positive, without a doubt, that the folder is just a waste byproduct of a previous scandisk recovery attempt.

That's most likely a sign of a failing hard drive. I wouldn't worry about getting rid of that folder otherwise.
