That was Karl Marx said. And I think it can be. It doesnt make religious folks addicts or anything, but some people are so blinded by the fog of their religion that it is like a drug

Oh, I'm sorry hon.....I think there's a real tendency for organized realigion to cloud the judgement of the zealots. You've seen it here yourself, they can't form a thought of their own without quoting the Bible or Quran. Something may be lacking in their lives and that's all they have, so I try not to be too harsh. That doesn't hold true for everyone, so no, not all Christians are "addicted."
***Hand of Justice below me is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

If youre Christian then dont repeat the garbage propaganda of atheists.
I would say denial and rationalism is the most powerful narcotic man will ever indulge in. Talk to the atheists in that case beause they are high off it constantly and deal in it! They keep an abundant stash!

Opiate is used in this quote as a sedative, and a controlling substance. That's what the quote refers to. Was that Karl Marx?

It's not in the opiate, it's in the Spirit.
I'm converting to Christianity soon.

Maybe not drug addicts, but in my opinion, it places a ceiling on intelligence, and snuffs the imagination as well.

Leaders can manipulate people with religion. It has always been so. But being a christian does not mean you give up critical thinking. Most intelligent people know when they are being manipulated.

Yes, its true. Most people can't handle life without a god. They litterally don't have the mental strength to survive it. It makes them feel better to believe in the magic sky fairy.

Good question. Emotional highs are fools gold. If all they have are "beliefs". After all didn't the founder say "you will "know" the "truth" and the "truth" will set you free"?

Yes. I'm no longer one, but it does make sense. AA, NA etc meetings try to substitute God for whatever drug they're on.
