Our dog Buddy is constantly jumping on our sliding glass door to get inside. He does perfect to get outside, he just rings a bell with his nose, but he is over 1 and he won't stop, and he just taught our new puppy how to. He's a good dog, it's just he needs to learn how to be civilized :-P

I have had this problem with my little poodle when it is time to go out. Don't let him in till he stops, tell him to sit or relax (have a treat ready, it helps), once he does it then let him in. If you have to crack the door so he can hear you better that is ok. If he is really stubborn and needs a little motivation then get a rolled up newspaper and pop him on the nose till he calms himself, it won't hurt him but he will most likely hate it and start to listen to you.

There are several different techniques but I think this is the best. Teach him to sit-stay in a quiet environment. That is, teach him how to sit-stay when he isn't trying to greet people. Try to lengthen the sit-stay to 30 seconds (longer than it sounds) and then, when he can do this, let him greet people that he knows. Put him on leash, have someone he knows walk in the front door and be very calm. Tell him to sit-stay using the leash if necessary. Have the person walk up to him very calmly, lean down and greet your dog. If your dog tries to jump, just very calmly tell him 'off' and to sit-stay. Knees-to-the-chest, water squirting, yelling, etc. only encourage the dog to be out of control. Since he can only do one thing at a time, sit-stay forces him to not jump up. The other method is to treat jumping up as attention getting behavior. The cure is to ignore the behavior by having people turn their back on him. I don't like this because the dog is still jumping up and clawing people. This is very uncomfortable with big dogs. If your dog is big, have people wear boots and winter coats with this method. :)

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/BNwiW

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

My suggestion is to stay outside with him until he is ready to come in. Then put him into a sit and make that his signal to come in. You will have to do it each time he goes outside until he gets the hang of it. Also they do sell something like a harness i think its called no jump or something and it restrains the dog from jumping until they realize that it is unacceptable behavior. Good luck

go outside with him and tell him no when he does it. tell him to sit and wait for him to do it. once he is calm then and only then give him attention and let him in. you have to be consistant, and do the same thing everytime. good luck.
