I am starting to drink more water during the day and am concerned that I am going to develop more of a gut because of it. Also, is it true or a myth that drinking more water helps your skin complexion?

Actually, it helps you lose weight for two reasons:
1. You feel more full because of all that volume in your tummy.
2. It helps flush your system before anything has a chance to stick. Which is why it's also good for your skin too!

from the web link:
Keep in mind that in order to reap the benefits of drinking enough water, you will want to spread the intake throughout the day. Don’t drink 2l of water all at once because the body will simply flush the excess and a lot of it will simply be wasted. Also, you don’t need to restrict yourself to water. Fruit juices, weak tea and coffee count as liquids that can be used by the body for hydration. Alcohol is out of the question, because alcohol has the opposite effect on the body.
And, don’t be afraid that drinking a lot of water will make you retain it. It’s dehydration, not abundance, which forces the body to hang on to what it has.

Drinking water does help nourish your skin and keep it hydrated which is very important, espically during the summer and winter where your skin tends to get dry. Yes, drinking water may cause you to gain a pound, but you won't even notice, but you lose a lot of the water you drink through daily things like exercising and even breathing. Drinking water daily (about 24 oz a day) is good for your body. So, go ahead and drink plenty of it. Also if you get bored w/ drinking it every day get flavor in it, buy flavored water like Propel. Hope this helped :)

water reaches all of your cells and helps them all work better.

Too much water can thin the blood and cause related problems it activates or stimulates cells increasing metabolism and cleans out the body of toxins so yes it's good for the skin, which needs constant hydration for elasticity.

It can help you to loose weight as it increases the metabolism of interstitial and intracellular fluids by cleaning them and maintaining fluid viscosity.

You can OD on water.

but,

being addicted to hydroniumhydroxide myself to the point that if i don't have it, i will die within days, i find that a drink of water helps the most when i need it.

I've read that drinking 8 glasses of water each day will make one healthier, look better and have better kidney function. If you gain weight because of it, you might have been dehydrated to begin with, or you might be eating too much salt in your diet. Check with a dietitian, at the very least, or a doctor to be sure, of course.

Water flushes out your system. Water won't make you gain any permanent weight, it may make a difference for five minutes or so but you pee it out and it's gone.
