there are any number of these ,some are chemical others from organic sources,the type used would depend on the plant or crop it is being used on & mainly what organism or pest is being targeted.Many of the older compounds were found to be harmful & hence have been banned in almost all countries,the trend is now for eco-friendly methods like pesticides from plant sources & an appreciation of insects & beetles that make the gardeners work easier by devouring harmful pests,such friendly helpers are ladybird betles,dragonflies etc.
