Let's see here. We need affordable high-quality housing in every part of the city, to change the way cities are being gentrified because it basically involves a bunch of wealthy people coming in and raising the cost of housing that winds up forcing the ACTUAL residents to move somewhere else if they can afford to find another home, improve the mental health system, assist in them getting a GED if they haven't graduated from high school and then assist them with job placement that will give them a job that pays a living wage. We also need to have a Democrat running this country too.

The federal budget gives the Pentagon over $400 BILLION dollars a year. If we took 5 billion of that, the Pentagon could still operate just fine. With 1 billion to rebuild our schools, 1 to eliminate our need for Mideast oil, and 2 to feed all of the six million starving kids around the world. Then a half billion to provide health insurance and a quarter billion to provide Headstart for every kid that needs it. The other 2.5 billion dollars could reduce homelessness to just about zero.

People need to start caring about the homeless! Help them get out of the situation! Sad fact is many of those homeless are veterans who fought for our country and this is how they are repaid there are Moms and there children out there, not all of them are alcoholics or drug addicts they just got some bad breaks and no one will help them out. We all need to do something to help these people, company owners need to hire them, cities need to create more affordable housing, counseling and other programs will help too.

In order to change the homeless rate, you have to change the thinking of the homeless.
The unemployment rate is outrageous, and it's not because of a lack of jobs, it's because of a lack of workers.
Is it really easier to lay on the street and beg, then it is to get up dust yourself off and get a job that would eventually get you off of the streets? I say NO.
The homeless problem in Amercia alone is costing millions each year..
But again, nothing will change until their thinking changes and they decide to reach out for help, instead of a free dollar.

2 main things, (1) they need to have homes for them that are affordable, which means that a 1 bedroom condo ahouldnt cost 250,000 dollars like it does around where I live. (2) They need to stop funding millions and millions of dollars for war in Iraq. This needs to end already. This money can be used to build houses and apartments . Enough said

Better care for the mentally ill and better treatment for addiction would kill most of it. The rest is more jobs and more affordable housing. That would pretty well take care of things.

This is not an immigration Q for one. Second, I think instead of handouts we need to give substance counseling and job counseling.

everybody: the gov. the homeless, the people who don't want to give them money because "it's all the homeless" fault. yeah, maybe they messed up, but seriously, would it hurt you to give them a few coins? i mean why are we so cold-hearted?
