I just picked one up for my son (it only has 60K miles) and it passes inspection without any problems. But when I drive it, the steering doesn't seem as responsive as I would like. Is this normal for this vehicle or could there be a problem with the steering linkage?

check your power steering fluid level it could be low. otherwise call a mechanic and ask it does not cost to ask them and it usaly does help alot. I have bought alot of cars and had to call a mechanic and ask them found the answer pretty helpful. especaily if you can not afford to have them do it for you.

I had a 93 Ford Tempo, that did the same thing. Its just the way the car was built. They are front wheel drive, and do steer quite different than a rear wheel drive, due to you are steering with the drive wheels. These cars are very economical (I got 40MPG with mine). They are great in the snow also. My parents had an 88 Ford Tempo, that was involved in 3 accidents and still ran another 100,000 miles after the 3rd accident. They are pretty safe cars. More than likely the car actually has 160,000 miles on it, but even that many miles is pretty common for these cars, and will give many more miles if properly cared for. IE, oil/filter changes every 3,000 miles, transmission services every 55,000 miles.
