do something stupid? For example, abandon your search for the ultimate truth, god, truth, etc...because you have something more intoxicating that you wish to follow. Would you seek the tangible, yet possibly unatainable, part of your reality, if it meant giving up what has driven you thus far?

No; I wouldn't give up God for anyone.

P.S. You ask very thought provoking questions, though.

Love is part of the ultimate truth, it is a taste of the sublime other-worldly reality that is somewhere out there.

Ecclesiastes 3:10 I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. 12 I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; 13 also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil - this is God's gift to man.

We were all born with the knowledge of the creator whether you were born in the present or the past.
The gift of life should not be wasted on merely spiritualistic things.
You've been given a milli-second of eternity, to experience life. The triumphs, the failures and every memory you gain adds to your worth.
Enjoy the unattainable and the trophies in life because you may never get these feelings again.

Live long and well
