I have been told it is a big job to put in a new heater core on a 1992 f150 Ford it has a/c and a 4.9 six in it. All I have heard is how hard it is to take out and put back in.

Yep, you heard right. Most heater cores are a major pain in the a$$, Ford outdid themselves. The heater core itself isn't hard, it's the dash disassembly you have to do to get to it.

I put one in my 96 F250. It's a little bit of a job alright. It's not really hard to do but it's time consuming. Actually it's a Pain In the buttox to tell the truth. The core is under the dash so you have to lay down on the floor and start taking everything out of the way and pushing it off to the side until you get to the core. It takes both metric an standard wrenches. When you finally get all the crap out of the way it's easy to do. About the only thing you will do in the engine bay is to take the heater hoses off so you can push the old core out. When you get done they you have to put all that crap back in again.

Good luck, plan on spending most of the day doing that job.

The blend door and frame must be removed to get the heater core out. It clips on the heater core at the right hand side, and plugs onto the actuator at the bottom. Once the blend door is removed, pull the heater core directly back and it will come right out. It would be a good idea to replace the blend door at this time as well, because the stock one is prone to cracking where the actuator goes into it at the bottom. Hate to see you have to do all this again next week......

1992 Ford pick-up heater core is a 1.5 hr. job. Remove the glove box, remove the anti-brake module, move the blend door cable out of the way, remove the 8 screws on the heater core cover.
Who ever said its hard, doesn't know what hard is

I actually have that exact same model truck (XL Extended cab edition). I can't really help you, just thought it was interesting someone asked a question about the car Im currently driving. I have had my A/c fixed before but not the heater core. Best of luck to you!
