Hello there, I'm a hairdresser.. a semi permanent colour has a low volume of peroxide present so wont lighten your hair, and washes out after about 12 washes.. semi's however will last much longer on already chemically treated hair (perm, colour or bleach).. semi permanent colour tends to be a sloppy mixture compared to permanent colours, so some people find it difficult to apply on foils.. best advice is to use the same shade as your natural hair or slightly darker..

Now days, many semi-permanent colors last a very long time. Much depends on the product and color used and the porosity of the hair it's applied to. Yes, it can be applied only in foils and it is used that way very often. It does not totally come out after just a few washings. Semi-permanent colors are usually progressive....meaning they hold in the hair more with each application. I hope this helped you. Good luck.

Modern hair colours are now more long lasting, and semi-permanent colours definitely do last a lot longer than they used to. Your hair condition will also have an impact on how much colour is absorbed, etc. It works well with foils, but it won't wash out quickly. It is, however, slightly "kinder" to your hair than a permanent colour as it does not damage the cortex.

semi-permanent will wash out after about a dozen washes. while a permanent die will stay until you cover it up or cut it out. a lot of places can do it with foild but some do the full head only.

semi permenant means up to 24 washes. You can have bits of colour added but it is more usually whole head
