Active duty USMC 1986-92 (E-4)
Desert Shield/Desert Storm
Forced out in 1992 because of Clinton's downsizing, otherwise would've re-enlisted. I love the Marine Corps!!!!!
Nov 2004-Aug 2005: Private Contractor w/ DynCorp, member of the Karzai Protection Detail (KPD) in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Mar 2006-Jul 2006: Private Contractor w/ Crescent Security Group, providing convoy security throughout Iraq.

I credit the stupid answers of those people to just shear ignorance and laziness on their part. If they want to add their "two cents" then they should take the time to research their answers better, although everyone is entitled to their opinion (most of the time) even if it is an uneducated one. And if they haven't been there and seen/done it first hand then they should shut the F**K up, they don't deserve an opinion!!!

USMC 1989 - 2001 and USMCR 2001 - present. Started out enlisted, went through MECEP and am now a Marine lawyer. Served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Somalia, Bosnia, and one tour in Iraq. Since I'm still in, I'd have to say that my experience thus far has been positive. As with all jobs military or civilian, there have been some bad times, but they do not outweigh the good times or great friends I have made over the last 17 years. As far as stupid answers, always remember that everyone has opinions and most of them suck. Good Luck and Semper Fi...

I was in the military back in the late 70's early 80's. Some good, some otherwise, just like any other job. MOS -33S If you choose to go in get a MOS with a civilian equivalent. If the service doesn't suit your demeanor your experience will serve your future.

I left because as one officer put it - You don't have proper respect for positional authority. I tend to appreciate solution based decisions. The book rarely gives an answer. Entitlements never does.

I was a combat medic, US Army, E-4, although I never saw any. I was in a rapid deployment support unit, and got put on alert for Panama, but, we never went. Active duty and reserves for 8 years. Would of gone anywhere I had too.Had many good experiences and some not so good. I support our troops a million percent. It bothers me when someone hasn't served and they talk about the military like they're an authority, I always want to say when you lace up those boots and pick up a ruck sack, and a weapon we'll talk.

USMC 94-98

Reached the Rank of Cpl.

MOS 2531 Radio Operator

Two Deployments with the MEU

No Conflicts During my time.

Sat off the coast of Taiwan in 96 when China was testing some new weapons system. We were there to evac any AmCit's in Taiwan at the time.

You can tell the ones who answer that were never in the military, but I just ignore them, and answer with accurate info.
